The ability to inspire hope and change in a broken society is a vital skill for any commanding leader. That’s certainly the case for the characters in the new drama, ‘The Bastards’ Fig Trig,’ which shows the brutality and horrors of the Spanish Civil War. In honor of Dark Star Pictures releasing the film in Los Angeles theaters this Friday, May 10, with an expansion to other markets in the following weeks, ShockYa is premiering an exclusive clip from the comedy.

The genre-bending movie, which had its World Premiere at Fantastic Fest last fall, will also receive a digital release on Tuesday, June 4. The thriller, which is based on Ramiro Pinilla’s 2011 novel, ‘The Fig Tree,’ was written and directed by Ana Murugarren. The screen adaptation stars Karra Elejalde.

‘The Bastards Fig Tree,’ which is set near the end of the Spanish War, follows a trigger happy fascist soldier who turns into a hermit. He gets caught up in the care of a fig tree after he look in the eyes of a ten-year-old child, who’s the son of one of his victims. The look awakes in him the certainty that the child will kill him as soon as he turns sixteen.
