Nikolaj Arcel To Direct Deadman

Variety is reporting that Nikolaj Arcel is set to direct a live-action adaptation of DC’s comic book “Deadman” for Warner Bros Pictures.
Famed director and producer Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth), alongside Don Murphy and Susan Montford from Angry Films, is producing the DC Comics adaptation. Deadman created in 1967 by Arnold Drake and Carmine Infantino, and is a murdered circus acrobat who is trapped as a ghost and has the power to possess the living in order to help the innocent and eventually, to find out who was his killer.

Larry Fessenden To Direct Orphanage Remake

Larry Fessenden has signed on to helm the US New Line remake of “The Orphanage,” the 2007 hit Guillermo del Toro-produced Spanish-language horror flick. Fessenden also has written the script in collaboration with del Toro, who is producing the new film with Contrafilm’s Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson.
The original film, directed by del Toro protege Juan Antonio Bayona, centered on a woman who returns to the orphanage where she was raise and discovers that her son’s new imaginary friend is in fact the same person who terrified her when she was a child there.

Katie Holmes Starring In Dont Be Afraid Of The Dark

Katie Holmes has been tapped to star in Miramax’s upcoming “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark,” a thriller scripted by Guillermo del Toro and Matthew Robbins. Del Toro and Mark Johnson are producing the film, which is being directed by del Toro protege and former comic-book artist Troy Nixey.
“Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” is based on a 1973 ABC telepic, about a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend. Gradually she discovers that the family is sharing the house with devilish creatures that thrive in the dark.
No other information has been released about the project yet.

Bayona Not Directing Eclipse

According to a report from the LA Times, Summit’s production president Erik Feig shot down all reports of The Orphanage director Juan Antonio Bayona being set to direct the third Twilight movie, Eclipse.
Feig says, “The Eclipse directing job hasn’t been offered to Juan Antonio or anyone else. We’ve met with three or four talented filmmakers and we’ll be meeting with three or four more other candidates before we make any decision. No one has been offered the job.”
Earlier in the week, several production trades published that Bayona had the job.
Bayona is a protege of Guillermo Del Toro, who produced Bayona’s Spanish-language horror/thriller The Orphanage.

According to an interview with actor Dominic Monaghan, all four Hobbits from The Lord of the Rings may return for “The Hobbit” written and produced by Peter Jackson and directed by visionary film director Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth). Guillermo Del Toro’s recent work includes “Hellboy 2″ starring Ron Perlman and Doug Jones (Hellboy, Carnies).
“They really want us to come back, and I think there’s a really strong chance that we might be back,” Actor Dominic Monaghan told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival.
