Here’s the complete nominees list for the Spike TV Scream Awards 2009, which tapes Saturday, October 17 At The Greek Theater In Los Angeles. Some of the obvious nominees would be “Drag Me to Hell” and the tween favorite “Twilight”, some no so obvious nominees include “Star Trek” and cult icon Bruce Campbell in “My Name is Bruce” — Go Bruce!!

Carla Gugino Signs Onto Sucker Punch

Carla Gugino has been cast in Zack Snyder’s upcoming fantasy action project “Sucker Punch.”
Gugino joins Emily Browning, Jamie Chung, Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, and Abbie Cornish in the 1950’s era story of a young girl (Browning) who is confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized. In order to escape, she and her friends then find and enter an alternate reality world.
Gugino is cast as the institution’s Mrs. Schultz. Snyder, in addition to directing, also wrote the script and will be producing alongside his wife and partner in his company Cruel & Unusual Films.

Zack Snyder recently sat down with MTV and talked about his upcoming projects, specifically his involvement with the much-speculated “Heavy Metal” film. “‘Heavy Metal,’ is coasting, [...] I don’t know what’s going to happen, I’m excited about it. I love ‘Heavy Metal,’ if that happens it’ll be great.”
A new “Heavy Metal” film has been speculated as being in the works since March 2008 and Snyder has been one of the names attached to directing a segment in the film, which filmmaker David Fincher would be spearheading.

The omnipresent, omniscient, omniannoying Dr. Manhattan pays a little visit to the Attack of the Show set interjecting his own erudite BS into the show’s proceedings. It’s good stuff.

Watchmen Already Breaking Records

Days before the movie Watchmen is even released, the movie has already set a new record: the highest number of theaters to play an R-rated film ever, with 3,611 screens.
The Zack Snyder-helmed comic book adaptation will play in 1,600 locations Thursday at midnight, which is 656 more than Snyder’s movie 300 had for its midnight shows.
Snyder’s first night earnings for 300 was the second-highest ever for an R-rated movie with $28 million, with Warner Bros’ 2003 hit The Matrix Reloaded in the number one spot, earning over $42.5 million its opening night.

The Matrix Reloaded had a 3,603-theater distribution for its entire run.
