Jon Stewart is set to take a hiatus from ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’ beginning in June, so that he can direct and produce his first feature film, ‘Rosewater.’ The film will be produced through his production company, Busboy Productions, along with Scott Rudin Productions and Odd Lot Entertainment. Longtime correspondent and writer John Oliver will take over hosting duties for ‘The Daily Show’ during the eight weeks that Stewart will be on hiatus. The cast of the cult crime mystery drama series ‘Veronica Mars’ is expressing its interest in appearing in the upcoming movie, with Percy Daggs III being the latest actor ready to sign on, TMZ is reporting. There’s more to discuss concerning FilmOn’s Alki David and his Aereo/Aero court case. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a California judge has denied without prejudice Aereo’s motion for a temporary restraining order against David and his use of Aero. The trademark infringement lawsuit, which was filed last week, contains Aereo’s opinion on the matter. “The public’s opinion, attitude and impression of Aereo will likely be irreparably harmed by Defendants’ unauthorized services or advertising in such circumstances,” the motion states. Law enforcement is increasing security for tonight’s Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby theater in Hollywood, in the wake of the increased mass shootings across America in recent months, TMZ is reporting. The LAPD insists it’s always vigilant at the Oscar ceremony, and security is strict every year. But the security system was reportedly increased after the recent wave of gun violence across the U.S. The LAPD has reportedly hired a private security company, Security Industry Specialists (SIS), to work at the Oscar ceremony tonight. Diane Lane has filed legal documents to divorce her husband of nine years, Josh Brolin, TMZ is reporting. The ‘Man of Steel’ star filed the papers against the ‘Gangster Squad’ actor on February 15 in L.A. County Superior Court, and cited irreconcilable differences.
