Joey King

Interview: The Dark Knight Rises And Oz: The Great And Powerful's Joey King

Sunday, January 29th, 2012

Make way for Joey King. At just 12-years-old, the young actress has already starred in her own feature film, Ramona and Beezus, and tacked on about eight other big screen titles to her resume. But, of course, it’s not just about lengthening your list of screen credits, but lengthening that list with films of quality and boy does King have some potential hits on the way. Next out of the gate for King will be the third installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman series, The Dark Knight Rises. Then, on March 8th, 2013, King will grace the screen as China Girl in Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful. But wait;…

The Human Centipede 2

Tom Six On The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence) And Future Projects

Friday, January 27th, 2012

Consider me, Monique Jones, a novice when it comes to horror. I honestly didn’t know what I was expecting when I started watching the uncut version “The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence” during the live chat event on Facebook, but now, after having seen the film for myself (well, most of it before I had to turn away due to my gag reflex), I can see why this film was banned in the UK. The “mastermind,” if you will, behind this film as well as its predecessor is Tom Six. Six chatted with fans during the screening of the uncut film, and not only answered some questions about the making…

Texas Killing Fields

Interview: Ami Canaan Mann On Directing Texas Killing Fields

Friday, January 27th, 2012

The first thing that drew Ami Canaan Mann to the film “Texas Killing Fields” wasn’t the script. “The thing that really drew me was the research material that came along with the script,” she said. The research expounded on the script, which is based on the real-life string of murders that happened in the 1970 through the 1990s along I-45, near League City, TX (according to Mann, the murders happened in Texas City, which is 30 minutes south of Houston). When Mann finally read the script, written by Don Ferrarone, she was just as affected. “It had such a visceral quality,” she said. By the time she had read the…

Asghar Farhadi

Interview: Asghar Farhadi Talks Oscar-Nominated A Separation, Life in Iran

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

Relations between the countries of Iran and the United States may be ill at ease, but Iranian cinematic import “A Separation” — just off its Golden Globe Best Foreign Language Film win and a Best Screenplay feting by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, the first such honor from the organization for a foreign film — is capturing the hearts and minds of plenty of American cineastes. The movie is a multi-layered familial drama about a married couple (Peyman Moadi and Leila Hatami) attempting to resolve elder care issues, their teenage daughter’s needs and the potentiality of a divorce when a misunderstanding turned legal problem with their new maid renders these problems secondary. Sophisticated…
