I have written ad nauseum about not understanding the allure of Fox’s new hit show “Gotham.” I still don’t understand it. But it’s not up to me to know why “Gotham” was picked as a contender this fall season. Fox believes in it, and that’s all that matters. They believe in it so much that they have given it a full season order. The Hollywood Reporter has stated that Fox has granted “Gotham” an additional six episodes, resulting in the full season order. The site states that “Gotham” had a 6.0 rating among adults in the coveted 18-49 age range after factoring in viewing habits during its live premiere and  [ Read More ]

This is great news for the series and for the network, which is still in the process of rebuilding its scripted fare. As reported recently, AMC has renounced its focus on unscripted television and cancelled  [ Read More ]

The Lego Movie

One of the breakout Lego stars from “The Lego Movie” is Will Arnett’s jerk iteration of Batman. This Batman isn’t as heroic as the Batman we know. This Batman reveled in being a rich, emo, privileged “superhero” who often treated his then-girlfriend Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks) badly. However, there was a lot about this character that could have been explored but wasn’t. Fortunately for us, we’ll get to see more of Batman in his own movie. The Hollywood Reporter is stating that a Batman Lego movie is on the fast track towards your local movie theater. Chris McKay is now at the head of the film, which is being written by  [ Read More ]

Maze Runner Thomas Poster

One of the more annoying trends with franchise movies is the new practice of splitting up the final movie into two films. “Harry Potter and the Deahtly Hallows” was split this way, as was the final “Twilight” film. Even now, we’re waiting on the two parts of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.” Thankfully, the next teenagers-getting-killed franchise, “The Maze Runner,” will not go down this route. Director Wes Ball stated his intentions for the franchise to Digital Spy. “I think three is the number; beginning, middle, end, that’s it,” he said. “Four? I think there’s something off about four. To me, if I have any say in it, there’s three movies  [ Read More ]
