‘Terra Nova’s producers are moving to secure the lead actors and more writers as they’re waiting to hear back from Fox on its decision to renew the show for a second season, Deadline is reporting. The options on the sci-fi drama expire on December 31, and the pickups for lead actors Jason O’Mara and Stephen Lang are pending. Fox was originally expected to make a decision on picking up ‘Terra Nova’ for a second season earlier in December, with the cast options expiration date forthcoming. James Cameron Sued For $1.5 Billion For Stealing Avatar Idea

Aspiring sci-fi screenwriter Bryant Moore has filed a lawsuit against James Cameron for stealing his idea for the hit 2009 film ‘Avatar,’ TMZ is reporting. Moore’s lawsuit is the second in as many weeks, claiming the famed director didn’t come up with the idea for the Academy Award-winning movie. He is also suing 20th Century Fox, which distributed ‘Avatar,’ for more than $1.5 billion in actual damages and more than $1 in punitive damages. Moore, who has written the screenplays for ‘Aquatica’ and ‘Descendants: The Pollination,’ is looking for more than $2 billion. He’s claiming Cameron used the two scripts as the inspiration for ‘Avatar,’ and points out numerous similarities…

Ben Stiller has signed onto direct 20th Century Fox’s upcoming horror film ‘The Mountain,’ Deadline is reporting. The movie, which was written by Helen Childress, who also scripted Stiller’s 1994 directorial debut ‘Reality Bites,’ is based on characters from the Edith Wharton novel ‘Summer.’ ‘The Mountain,’ which is being produced by Stiller and his Red Hour partner Stuart Cornfeld, will be set in the 1900s. It follows a young woman who struggles to confront her destiny after she discovers a mysterious object that forces her to examine her past. MTV is considering picking up the series adaptation of the graphic novel ‘Locke & Key,’ Deadline is reporting. The cable network’s programming chief David Janollari has yet to meet with the show’s producers, but he did like the pilot, which was given to him on DVD. The news of Janollari’s interest comes after the companies behind the pilot, 20th Century Fox, K/O Paper Products and DreamWorks TV, shopped it to other networks, including Syfy. I’ve seen this film and it’s fantastic. As a huge fan of all (even somewhat of the Tim Burton version) “Planet of the Apes” movies, I really dug this new one. It holds true to the mythology and imagination created by these films, while at the same time, pay homage to its source.
