I can’t believe it, but this is officially it; my coverage of San Diego Comic Con 2011 has come to a close. For five incredibly long days, the experience went by in a flash. The action was non-stop from the moment I touched down in San Diego and while it was extremely exhausting and probably one of the most trying working experiences I’ve ever gone through, it was beyond worth it. So, what’d you think? Did you like my coverage choices? Were the formats I chose to report in effective? Do let me know because I’m thrilled to say, it looks as though I’ll be returning to Comic Con next  [ Read More ]

SDCC 2011: Friday Wrap Up And Photos

Posted by Perri Nemiroff On July - 23 - 2011 0 Comment

That’s that for Friday at San Diego Comic Con and I’m back at home base, well, the hotel. Today was a particularly busy one as I got a taste of exactly how long those lines for Hall H and Ballroom 20 can get. I thought I was jumping the gun by showing up three hours early for the 11:15am panel for The Walking Dead, but apparently about 10,000 people had the exact same idea, as the line stretched from the convention hall all the way down to the bay. Lucky for me, I was able to work some press related magic and get a seat, but for those other 10,000  [ Read More ]

SDCC 2011: Thursday Wrap Up And Photos

Posted by Perri Nemiroff On July - 22 - 2011 0 Comment

And that’s a wrap on my first full busy day at San Diego Comic Con. I kicked things off at the press conference for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, which featured Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Julia Jones and Booboo Stewart after which Bill Condon, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner took the stage. Before wrapping up things with Summit Entertainment, I spoke with the writer of one of the studio’s next book-to-film adaptations, Warm Bodies author Isaac Marion. Keep an eye out for that interview later this week. From there it was off to the convention center where I spent some time checking out the  [ Read More ]

The parking lot of Petco Park was abuzz yet again tonight, this time courtesy of Warner Bros. in honor of the August 12th release of Final Destination 5. While I did catch the film’s stars Nicholas D’Agosto, P.J. Byrne, Tony Todd, Miles Fisher and Arlen Escarpeta floating around, the spotlight belonged to a portable theater screening the film’s opening disaster. Before the Final Destination 5 footage began, the audience of about 30 or so relived the past four films in a montage of the most gruesome kills. After enjoying Rory (Jonathan Cherry) getting sliced and diced, Evan Lewis (David Paetkau) taking a ladder to the face and poor Ms. Lewton  [ Read More ]

SDCC 2011: Shockya.com Hits San Diego Comic Con Tomorrow

Posted by Perri Nemiroff On July - 19 - 2011 2 Comments

I can’t believe it, but my very first San Diego Comic Con is just a day away. First off, let me give you a sense of where I’m coming from. I got into this whole online movie reporting biz back in 2008, right after graduation from New York University. Ever since, I’ve manned the control panel, backing up teams of reporters as they ventured out west leaving me home sweet home to merely get a taste of the action as their stories rolled in. Three years later, it’s my turn and I couldn’t be more thrilled and honored to be the one to bring the latest from the convention to  [ Read More ]

The Best and Worst Movies Of 2011 So Far (Karen's Take)

Posted by Karen Benardello On July - 7 - 2011 0 Comment

Continuing with Shockya’s new mini-series The Best and Worst Films of 2011…So Far, this installment ironically includes historical dramas and car action movies on both the greatest and poorest lists. Some of these films successfully integrated historical facts with a captivating storyline and big-budget stunts with a natural bond between the cast, respectfully; unfortunately, the other movies disappointingly failed to incorporate accurate backstories or exciting chase scenes. The Best and Worst Films of 2011…So Far also features some of the most anticipated movies of the second half of the year. The summer seems to want to step away from the historical dramas and action films to instead focus on the  [ Read More ]

Who’s ready for round two of our “Best and Worst of 2011 So Far” series? Yesterday Melissa kicked things off with some noble choices in the drama and comedy departments, but now it’s my turn and my affinity for the horror genre is as blatant as ever. Take a look at where my top and bottom lists stand thus far and be sure to keep an eye out for the rest of the Shockya.com crew’s picks as the series continues tomorrow night with Karen’s choices. BEST SO FAR Super 8: J.J. Abrams did it back in 2008 with Cloverfield and now, he’s done it again, built an incredible amount of  [ Read More ]

Final Destination 5 Poster Released

Posted by Rudie Obias On July - 6 - 2011 0 Comment

The official poster for “Final Destination 5″ hit the Internet, to surprisingly, a lot of fanfare. It’s amazing that this series has lasted five movies, which leads Hollywood to a tend of overstaying their welcome. Albeit, I was pretty apathetic to “Fast Five” before it was released and upon seeing the movie, I was hooked. This is an example of how to breathe new life into a lackluster series. At the same time, we saw the advent of “Scream 4″, a film series that desperately needed a jumpstart into a new decade but couldn’t live up to modern standards and a new generation of general audience. The “Resident Evil” series  [ Read More ]
