Kristen Stewart On The Road Sexy

I read “On the Road” in high school, thanks to a hippie-ish English substitute teacher. The book was cool, but at the time, I didn’t really like it on the whole. Nowadays, I understand more of the malaise and meaninglessness the books’ characters were running away from, so a re-read is probably in order. However, I won’t really have to re-read it in earnest now that the film version of “On the Road” is coming out very soon. The film will be on VOD and in theaters the same day, March 22 and will eventually expand to over 150 playdates as well as being available on demand. MTV has an  [ Read More ]

K-11 Movie Review

Title: K-11 Director: Jules Stewart Starring: Goran Visnjic, Kate Del Castillo, DB Sweeney, Jason Mewes, Portia Doubleday, Tiny Lister, Tara Buck, Billy Morrison, Cameron Stewart Nope, the directorial debut of Jules Stewart, the mother of “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart, isn’t a flash-forward sequel to James Belushi’s “K-9,” or the tale of an exponentially high mountain range. Instead, the bewildering “K-11,” at once intense and archly presented, is a careening updating (send-up? celebration?) of women-in-prison exploitation flicks like “Caged Heat.” A pulpy, psychologically hollow and emotionally indiscernible mélange of phony jailhouse intrigue and showy gender-politicking, with a bit of anal rape sprinkled in, Stewart’s film is too ridiculous to be taken seriously and not tightly  [ Read More ]

Perri-Best-of-2012-Thumb

While the large majority can come to an agreement on whether or not a film is good or bad, or pinpoint a particular element that exemplifies skillful filmmaking, for me, the reviewing process is still very personal. Some moviegoers prefer horror while others go for romance, some don’t mind a tearjerker while others would rather keep their emotions to themselves, and then there are the times when you just happen to walk into a movie and it strikes a chord because you just experienced something similar. Well, I certainly can’t speak to your big screen preferences, but I’m thrilled to share mine, a top ten that I’ve populated with quality  [ Read More ]

Interview: Sam Riley Talks About His Role in On the Road

Portraying a well-known, beloved literary character from a critically acclaimed novel in a film adaptation is taunting task for many actors, particularly for those who were unfamiliar with the book before shooting began. While the characters yearn for a stable lifestyle and the American dream of a job and family, they also are driven by their desire to explore America first and experience diverse  [ Read More ]

Title: On the Road Director: Walter Salles (‘The Motorcycle Diaries’) Starring: Sam Riley (‘Brighton Rock‘), Garrett Hedlund (‘Country Strong’), Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Amy Adams, Elizabeth Moss (TV’s ‘Mad Men’), and Viggo Mortensen Like with many generations contending with the devastation of the aftermath of war, and struggling to redefine their place in society, the Beat Generation was no different in the late 1940s during the aftermath of World War II. Writer Jack Kerouac realistically and shockingly showed the liberation and experimentation of young adults during that time in his critically acclaimed 1957 novel, ‘On the Road.’ The book’s themes of the younger generation questioning taboos while fighting their inner  [ Read More ]
