Eva Mendes has joined the cast of Adam McKay’s upcoming comedy “The Other Guys,” formerly known by the title “The B Team”, which McKay and Chris Henchy (“Land of the Lost”) wrote the screenplay for. The action-comedy film already has Michael Keaton, Damon Wayans Jr, Will Ferrell, and Mark Wahlberg attached and all set to star as police officers. “The Other Guys”, which is being produced by Gary Sanchez Productions and Mosaic, is scheduled by Sony for release in August of 2010. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, “Four Christmases” director Seth Gordon is in talks to direct “King Dork,” the high school dramedy based on the hit young-adult novel from Frank Portman. Gary Sanchez Productions’ Will Ferrell and Adam McKay recently moved the project to Sony, after initially being at Par Vantage. “King Dork” centers on Tom Henderson, a teenage misfit who finds refuge in music and seeks the truth behind his policeman father’s mysterious death. “Dead Snow” director and co-writer Tommy Wirkola is helming “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters,” a new take on the classic child’s tale, the Hollywood Reporter is reporting. Wirkola pitched the idea to Gary Sanchez Productions of the now-grown siblings having become witch hunters, 15 years after escaping the Gingerbread House. Variety reports that Sony Pictures Entertainment has won the bidding war for the Adam McKay-directed comedy The B Team that will star Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Screenwriter Christ Henchy, who recently wrote the script for the upcoming Ferrell comedy Land of the Lost, is teaming up with McKay to write The B Team with Ferrell and McKay’s production company, Gary Sanchez Productions, and Mosaic producing. Variety says that studios trying to fill 2010 release slates have been given two very good options: an Adam McKay-directed action comedy starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, or a drama starring Matt Damon that will have him working alongside his Bourne Ultimatum screenwriter George Nolfi. The Damon picture, The Adjustment Bureau, is a contemporary science fiction romance film that is loosely based on a Phillip K. Dick short story. Nolfi will be making his directing debut with Bureau, which will begin production by late summer.
