Our Idiot Brother

DVD Review: Our Idiot Brother

Monday, December 19th, 2011

Title: Our Idiot Brother Directed by: Jesse Peretz Starring: Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Adam Scott, Emily Mortimer, Rashida Jones and Zooey Deschanel Running time: 90 minutes, Rated R, Available on Blu-ray Ned (Paul Rudd)  is just a happy go lucky guy who is extremely naive and honest to a fault, so much that he unintentionally disrupts the lives of his three self-absorbed sisters.  There’s Miranda (Elizabeth Banks) the career-oriented journalist, Liz (Emily Mortimer) the overprotective earthy mother of a sheltered son who is married  to a slimy British documentarian (Steve Coogan), and Natalie (Zooey Deschanel) an artistic, yet career directionally challenged bisexual. There is no question that Paul Rudd was…

Our Idiot Brother Review Title: Our Idiot Brother Director: Jesse Peretz Starring: Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Emily Mortimer, Steve Coogan, Hugh Dancy, Kathryn Hahn, Rashida Jones, Shirley Knight, TJ Miller, Adam Scott, Janet Montgomery, Sterling K Brown, Matthew Mindler Yes, there’s the saying, “nice guys finish last,” and that’s certainly the case for Our Idiot Brother‘s Ned (Paul Rudd) quite often, but when you’re considering movies, nice movies can get a bit of a boost even when they don’t entirely deserve it. Our Idiot Brother is undoubtedly flawed, but director Jesse Peretz turns up the charm with ease, bringing the best out of his talented cast and some impressively honest,…

Piranha 3D Movie Review

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

Title: Piranha 3D Directed By: Alexandre Aja Starring: Elisabeth Shue, Steven R. McQueen, Jerry O’Connell, Jessica Szohr, Ving Rhames, Adam Scott, Kelly Brook, Riley Steele, Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd, Brooklynn Proulx, Sage Ryan I like campy horror flicks – a lot, probably too much. Piranha 3D looked to be everything I’d fall for; I’m a huge fan of director Alexandre Aja’s The Hills Have Eyes, thought writers Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg’s last film, Sorority Row, was a ton of fun and am always eager to check out new and more grotesque ways of killing off characters. The problem is, Piranha lacks the fear and emotion of The Hills Have…

New Piranha 3D Poster Promotes The Film From A Different Angle

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Yet another Piranha 3D poster has surfaced and it’s actually something a little different. It still features a pack of our bloodthirsty fishy friends, but also plays up the fact that this one won’t be just another gory horror flick, it’ll be a blast too. Not to promote bootlegging, but I did catch that leaked 10-minute sizzle reel from the film and based on that, it looks like director Alexandre Aja is going to deliver big time. It’s back with booze, boobs and some of the goriest antics I’ve seen in a while. Aja is really going to the max with some pretty outrageous kills. I’m not going to post…

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Title: August (2008) Starring Josh Hartnett, Adam Scott, Robin Tunney, Andre Royo, Rip Torn and David Bowie Produced by Original Media, 57th & Irving Productions and Periscope Entertainment Written by Howard A. Rodman Directed by Austin Chick Score: Technical: 90, Story: 75, Acting: 90, Overall Score: 85 When I received this movie in the mail, I sort of groaned a little because of who’s starring in it…but I’ve got to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Not only is he not dreadful like he has been in some things the last few years, but he’s actually really great in this one. August follows two brothers Tom (Josh Hartnett),…
