The rights to hit Japanese anime series “Full Metal Panic!” have been acquired by Mandalay Pictures to develop a big-screen version of the series. Often abbreviated “FMP”, the series Shoji Gatoh’s series about is a teenage anti-terrorist commando from the group Mithril named Sousuke Sagara. Imagi International, the digital workshop that is creating the CGI adaptation of the classic Japanese Anime “Astro Boy”, due out in theaters October 23rd, 2009, has released some artwork from the upcoming film. “Astro Boy” first debuted as a Japanese Manga series in 1952, created by Osamu Tezuka and its animated adaptation is largely considered to be the first animated series to follow the now-familiar “Anime” style and format. Warner Bros Grabs Rights to Live-Action Ninja Scroll

Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to “Ninja Scroll”, the Japanese action anime, and are planning a live-action big-screen adaptation. The studio has tapped Alex Tse to write the script. Tse’s previously worked on “Watchmen”, as well as the upcoming adaptation of the Ray Bradbury novel “The Illustrated Man” and “Frankie Machine”, which is based on Don Winslow’s book “The Winter of Frankie Machine”. Imagi International Holdings has released a brief teaser clip from the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the classic early 1970′s Japanese anime series Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.
