As part of a busy press day schedule (but nowhere close to her personal record, which would be the 96 five-minute one-on-one interviews she did for “Grindhouse” in a single day, after roundtable interviews), ShockYa recently had a chance to chat one-on-one with a dazzlingly made-up Rose McGowan, about portraying strong women, the appeal of a “proper man,” upcoming projects, a personality that hasn’t changed much since childhood, and why her crazily wardrobed “Conan” character is, in her words, ”much cooler” than Freddy Krueger. Joe Gazzam Writing Barbarella Revamp

With director Robert Luketic announced back in June as working with producer Dino De Laurentiis to work on a reboot of the classic camp 1968 sci-fi flick “Barbarella”, Joe Gazzam has been announced as penning the script to the long-rumored remake. A previous attempt at bringing the character of Barbarella, a space mercenary portrayed by Jane Fonda in the film who fell into various often hilarious sexual situations has Robert Rodriguez attached to direct, and had Rose McGowan starring in the titular role. The character was first created in 1962 as a French adult-oriented comic strip before beginning standalone publication in 1964, created by Jean-Claude Forest. Stay tuned to Shockya.com…

Robert Rodriguez Barbarella Remake Dead

MTV.com is reporting that Robert Rodriguez’s planned remake of the classic cult sci-fi film “Barbarella”, to star Rose McGowan, is officially “dead”. Rodriquez’s official statement says that difficulty in acquiring financing for the project, which several studios balked at, is the reason. Barbarella is a fictional French sci-fi comic book character, created by Jean-Claude Forest. He created the character in 1962, and the stand-alone books caused a scandal, becoming known as the first “adult” comic-books. Barbarella, who Forest modeled on Brigitte Bardot, is a young woman who travels through outer space and has numerous adventures, often involving sex.
