Christian Bale Doesn't Want to Reprise Batman in Fourth Movie

Christian Bale has said that with the ‘Dark Knight Rises’ shoot finished, he has no plans to reprise his role of the Caped Crusader in a fourth Batman movie, the Huffington Post is reporting. The Academy Award-winning actor said “I wrapped a few days ago so that will be the last time I’m taking that (Batman hood) off.” Bale’s statement comes after he said in 2010 that unless director Christopher Nolan said otherwise, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ would be the last time he played Batman. CinemaBlend is reporting that David Goyer, part of the writing team behind the successful film “Batman Begins”, is going to write the script to Legendary Pictures’ “Godzilla” remake. According to Deadline, Goyer will write the screenplay based on a draft by David Callaham. Goyer’s most recent project includes writing “Man of Steel,” the Superman remake that promises to be grittier and closer to the Superman storyline than the film “Superman Returns.” “Godzilla,” a film franchise that was popular in the late ’60s and ’70s, has tried to have a revamp in recent years, but to no success. The UK tabloid “The Sun” is reporting on a rumor that comedian and actor Eddie Murphy will be playing the Riddler, also known as Edward Nigma (“E. Nigma”, or enigma) in the next Christopher Nolan Batman film, which will be following “Batman Begins” and this past summer’s blockbuster “The Dark Knight”. The paper also gives a rough 2010 release date for the as-of-yet announced film, though multiple other names have been rumored to be attached to it, including Johnny Depp in the same role, and Rachel Weisz as the sultry Catwoman.
