Black Tide Releases Spanish Language EP

Monday, November 14th, 2011

American music is a strong force in the music industry world. Yes, there is Adele, Taio Cruz and Leona Lewis, but what country can deny the monstrous fame of American artists like, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and Taylor Swift? Every now and then, American artists cross over to other nations, not because of their celebrity, but for their dual language capabilities. This path is similar to that of Shakira’s but the opposite direction. The latest group to take this route is the Miami-based hard rock band, Black Tide. The quartet has released, “Al Cielo”, a Spanish language EP featuring three songs from their latest DGC/Interscope Records release, “Post Mortem”. Re-recorded…

Dare Black Tide To Do Whatever Your Heart Desires

Friday, October 21st, 2011

Black Tide released their sophomore album, “Post Mortem”, on August 23rd. We covered the band extensively this summer and the release of “Post Mortem” has proven the coverage to be more than worth it. The Miami quartet delivers an 11 track album that is full of a variety of instrumental tempos and vocal arrangements. Currently, the band is finishing up on the Uproar festival before heading back out onto the road in support of “Post Mortem”. Black Tide continues to keep their fans on their toes. Fans can now Dare Black Tide to do anything they can think of by tweeting @BlackTide using the hash tag “I #dareblacktide to…” Submit…

ShockYa Chronicles: Playing with the bands at UPROAR 2011

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

Literally, playing. Backstage. On a make-shift basketball court. And it’s a good thing we found a sturdy stick to replace part of the hoop that was busted or none of what you’re about to read would have been published. Usually post-coverage for a major event such as the 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival will encompass a little bit of everything from the show. But in Tampa, Florida, coverage was left up to how many times a ball went through a hoop. While doing an interview with Black Tide drummer Steven Spence, my research prior to yapping with the 23 year-old revealed the guys out of Miami, Florida bring a…

Album Review: Black Tide's Post Mortem Is To Die For

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

We often think hard rock and metal music are no boundary genres. This assumption is primarily due to the musician stereotype of the 80s and 90s, where the more drugs and alcohol consumed, the harder the artist rocked. Well, those decades are long gone and rock and metal music are now becoming “fence free” for the right reasons. These grounds involve a band’s limitless sound, not their drug supply. We tip our hats off to Black Tide for affirming the previous statement with their sophomore release, “Post Mortem”. We have been following the Florida quartet’s “Post Mortem” journey for quite some time and have been relaying the information to you…

A Shout Out From Black Tide

Monday, August 15th, 2011

We have been talking about the Florida quartet, Black Tide, for quite awhile now. The reasons for our constant chattering are endless. We just fell hard for this group and their sophomore album, “Post Mortem”, hasn’t even dropped yet. The released singles, “Bury Me”, “Honest Eyes”, “Walking Dead Man”, “That Fire” and “Let It Out”, individually bring distinct musical elements, but collectively express the band’s confidence in their music. Their musical security is conveyed to the listener and reciprocated with the band gaining the listener’s trust. That’s a pretty solid trade, diverse tunes for fan loyalty. We are glad to have this relationship with Black Tide. On August 23rd, you…

Black Tide Performs A New Track

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

The days are fast approaching to the release of Black Tide’s, “Post Mortem”. The band’s sophomore album will drop August 23rd via DGC/Interscope Records. We love to live in the moment, but this album makes us quite excited for the afterlife. Alright, maybe that was a little bit corny, but we have been waiting for “Post Mortem”‘s release for awhile. Black Tide has made us even cheesier with a performance of a new song, off the album, “Let It Out”. The quartet stopped by Guitar Center to showcase an unplugged version of the tune. With “Let It Out” and the other four tracks, “Honest Eyes”, “Walking Dead Man”, “That Fire”…

Interview: Black Tide Brings A New Wave of Metal

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

With their upcoming release, “Post Mortem”, Black Tide brings a fresh “wave” of heavy metal music. By fresh, we simply mean that the metal tunes have a strong focal point, where the listener can hear a consistent rhythm throughout the song along with the screaming vocals and heavy instrumentals. We sometimes get lost within the loud sounds of metal music, but Black Tide has devised a way to keep us adrift in the dark waters. The Florida quartet, consisting of vocalist and lead guitarist, Gabriel Garcia, bassist, Zakk Sandler, drummer, Steven Spence and guitarist, Austin Diaz, dropped their debut album, “Light From Above”, in 2008 and are set to release…

Black Tide Invites You In On Their Latest Music Video

Monday, June 13th, 2011

If we weren’t so adamant about music journalism, our next career path would probably involve working on a music video set. We appreciate the instrumentals and vocals of a track, but what we admire most is the meaning behind the lyrics of a song and a music video visually discloses just that. We have to confess that heavy metal and hard rock are genres we have a difficult time decoding due to the abrasive sounds of the instruments and vocals. It is not a bad thing, just the style of the music. So to be able to watch a music video of these categories is the perfect solution to our…

Black Tide Pushes Their Music Further With Their New Album

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

We tend to take a liking to a band’s sophomore album release as opposed to a group’s debut. Why do we prefer this route? Well, a band’s second album says a lot about a group. It shows how a band takes into account their debut album critiques from listeners and professionals and how the members use this information in creating their next album. A successful second album contains the musical roots of the band’s debut, but also further extends their creativity through risky endeavors. There is a similar sound between the two, but a sense of maturity can be heard on the latter one. Do you understand our partialness yet?…
