Talk of a third Bridget Jones installment has made it to the forefront once again. This time Deadline has reported that the cast of Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, and the production team are adamant “to make this movie this year.” Rumors that producers are still “tweaking the script”, causing the hold up, was also confirmed by Working Title Films, who issued a statement Friday vowing to make the film in 2012. Working Title Films is moving forward with a second ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ sequel, which has been in development since 2009, Entertainment Weekly is reporting. The production company, which is based at Universal, released the original film in 2001, which went on to gross $281 million worldwide. Its follow-up, 2004′s ‘Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason,’ was met with poor critical reviews, but still earned $262 million worldwide. Working Title has confirmed that it is developing a third installment of the “Bridget Jones” series starring Renee Zellweger (My Own Love Song, Monsters vs Aliens) in the titular role. The thus far-untitled third “Bridget Jones” film is still in pre-production and will no start production and filming until 2010. The first two films, starring Zellweger, are based on the hit newspaper columns and books by writer Helen Fielding, and the third film is reportedly most likely going to be based on the column as well.
