ShockYa's Top 10 TV Shows Of 2011

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

Even though there were several TV misfires in 2011, there was a ton of good things about this year’s TV-watching season. Here’s a list of the top 10 shows of 2011 . 1.“Luther”: Idris Elba hasn’t been nominated for a Golden Globe for nothing. BBC/BBC America’s “Luther” is a critically-acclaimed show from across the pond that features a detective who fights crime while dealing with his internal struggle, sometimes, violently so. This show is also notable because, at least in America, it’s one of the few shows that has a person of color as their lead character, thus broadening the landscape of viable actors in Hollywood. 2.“The Walking Dead”: AMC…

Entertainment Weekly Meets With Adventure Time's Pendleton Ward At The NYCC

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

The Entertainment Weekly show “The No Doctor Cop Lawyer Show” went to the New York Comic Con recently and sat down with one of the biggest animating stars on Cartoon Network, Pendleton Ward, the creator of the wildly successful “Adventure Time.” I’m a huge fan of this show and animation in general, so being that I am a huge fan, I was surprised to find out that it’s actually set in a post-apocalyptic world instead of another world like I imagined it was. “It came about almost by accident” Ward said to “Doctor Cop” hosts Darren Franich and Keith Staskiewicz. “In the beginning it was just a bright-colored fantasy land,…

The trailer for the animated ThunderCats show arrives!

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

“ThunderCats” is back! ScreenCrave has the trailer for the new version of the animated show, and from looking at the still of the lead characters as well as the trailer, it would seem that the show will have an anime feel. In fact, I’m going to have to agree with ScreenCrave and say that the show does look very much like “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. Even some of the set designs look like the Earth and Fire Kingdoms and the Northern Water Tribe.  Also, if anyone has seen “Cowboy Bebop”, you’ll notice a similarity between the character designs of Jet and Panthero. Not necessarily a bad thing, really; if you…

Firebreather Comic Book

Firebreather Possibly Heading To Cartoon Network

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

An anonymous source to /film has leaked that Cartoon Network has picked up the comic book “Firebreather”, for either an animated/CGI TV movie or an ongoing series. The source connects Peter Chung (Aeon Flux, Reign: The Conqueror) to the “Firebreather” adaptation in the director’s role. “Firebreather” is an Image Comics title created by Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn focusing on the life of a teenage half-dragon, whose mother is human but whose father is the King Of Monsters who’d want nothing more than his son to inherit his title. The story began in a 2003 mini-series, as well as a 2004 one-shot. An ongoing series started in May 2008, all…

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Talking to MTV, “The Day The Earth Stood Still” star Keanu Reeves’ love of the hit anime series “Cowboy Bebop” and his desire to work on an adaptation of the project has come to light. When asked about it recently Reeves said “We’re trying to do that. [...] It’s got a Western quality, a Western film noir aspect to it,” Reeves, on why exactly he loves the franchise, says “It’s got so much style to it, and that’s part of its appeal. That kind of Old West, bordertown, low-tech science fiction aspect.” The project is currently being put together by producer Erwin Stoff, who’s spent the last two decades working…
