Actress Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Reynolds will team up to headline Tim Burton’s art drama entitled “Big Eyes”. While Burton is producing through his company Screwed, helmers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski will both co-direct the picture that chronicles the lives of artist Margaret Keanes and her husband Walter, who passed off his wife’s work as his own until the two eventually divorced. More casting news has come down the pike when it comes to Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s coming sci-fi adaption The Host. The latest, as confirmed by The Guardian, is that Inglorious Basterds actress Diane Kruger may be taking on the role of the Seeker. Kruger, who is best known for her work in National Treasure and Unknown, has apparently beat out several other actresses such as Homeland’s Claire Danes and Eva Green. According to Variety, Kruger isn’t the only new addition to The Host line-up. It looks like award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow has found her diamond in the rough once again. The young Hailee Steinfeld, who starred opposite Matt Damon and Jeff Bridges, in the Cohen brothers True Grit is eying a new lead role in Ender’s Game. Gavin Hood will be directing the adaption from the novel of Orson Scott Card with the hopes of signing Steinfeld to play the character Petra Arkanian, who is the only girl in the Salamander Army. Singer and actress Miley Cyrus has been cast in Hotel Transylvania, the upcoming 3D animation picture from Sony that also stars Adam Sandler as Dracula. Cyrus will voice the role of Sandler’s teenage daughter Mavis in the movie that follows the notorious vampire and his luxury hotel built for monsters. Sopranos star James Gandolfini could be joining the comedy flick ‘Burt Wonderstone’. The former crime boss, who has been seen recently in ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ and ‘Welcome To The Rileys’, is said to be in talks to star in the Don Scardino directed picture. Actor Ryan Phillippe has signed on to star in the fifth season of Damages. Treme actor David Morse, who just appeared in Drive Angry 3D, and the short lived FX series Lights Out, has joined Director Mark Forster’s World War Z. In what appears to be some late casting, Morse will play reportedly play a prisoner, who makes it through the war, and is hiding out in a prison to stay alive. It’s been a a while since the twenty-four year old Ellen Page has been seen in the bright lights of Hollywood. Variety is now reporting that the Juno star is getting ready to ink a movie deal with Fox Searchlight to star in the thriller ‘The East’.
