It’s been a a while since the twenty-four year old Ellen Page has been seen in the bright lights of Hollywood. Variety is now reporting that the Juno star is getting ready to ink a movie deal with Fox Searchlight to star in the thriller ‘The East’. The movie, written by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, with Batmanglij on board as director, will be produced by Tony and Ridley Scott’s, Scott-Free Productions. True Blood’s Stephen Moyer, known as Bill Compton to fans of the Allan Ball series, is now officially attached to star in director Darren Lynn Bousman’s (Saw, Repo) devilish tale of a camping trip gone awry. According to Variety, Moyer has inked a deal to star in the movie titled ‘The Barrens’, where he will play a man who decides to take his family on a camping trip to the New Jersey Pine Barrens. X Men actor Caleb Landry Jones has been added to Byzantium’s cast line up. The vampire movie will be helmed by Neil Jordan, whose awesome credentials include 1994′s Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles and The Borgias, alongside producer Steve Woolley of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. Byzantium follows a “mother and daughter vampire duo form a deadly pact”. Based on the Vertigo/DC Comics title, the show centers on the Human Target, a freelance bodyguard named Christopher Chance. He offers a unique service, taking on the identity of his clients to draw attention towards him, thus becoming a literal human target. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Chi McBride (“Pushing Daisies”) and Jackie Earle Haley (“Little Children”, “Watchmen”) have joined the cast of the “Human Target” pilot episode, along with Mark Valley (“Fringe”) in the adaptation of the DC/Vertigo series about a mysterious PI and bodyguard named Christopher Chance, who assumes the identity of his clients. There is no mention of who McBride or Haley will be playing in the pilot. A TV pilot adaptation of the comic was filmed in 1990 starring Rick Springfield, but the series only briefly aired in 1992 with 7 episodes and followed a similar setup from the comic. Kat Dennings (Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist, Housebunny) has officially signed on to play the role of Kat in the upcoming feature film “Defendor”, joining Actor Woody Harrelson (No Country For Old Men, The People Vs. Larry Flynt) and Sandra Oh (Sideways, Grey’s Anatomy). Harrelson will be playing Arthur, a regular man who believes he has a secret identity as the superhero “Defendor”. Sandra Oh plays his psychiatrist and Kat Dennings plays a teenager living on the streets whom Arthur befriends.
