Movies News Cheat Sheet: Santa Brings Trailers And Posters For Christmas, Box Office Gets Scrooged

Sunday, December 25th, 2011

After a morning packed with Christmas presents, consider this Movie News Cheat Sheet a bit of an after dinner drink to the main meal. Okay, not every item on this week’s list will bring you comfort and joy, but the good most certainly outweighs the not so good. Not a fan of 3D? It pains me to report that both The Avengers and Star Trek 2 will go under the post conversion knife. On the bright and unrelated side, the big screen adaptation of Ender’s Game just snagged a slew of new cast members including Harrison Ford and Abigail Breslin. In other casting news, Lovelace picked up four and might…

Dinocroc Vs Supergator

DVD Review: Dinocroc Vs. Supergator, The Warrior's Way, Hell Bound and Boyz N The Hood

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

David Carradine is much on my mind recently, having just finished up his rather excellent “Kill Bill Diary” — a thorough, intellectually rangy and assuredly entertaining read of his time spent on Quentin Tarantino’s two-part revenge epic. A workaholic without necessarily the most discerning taste, Carradine’s sudden death at the age of 72 (in June, 2009, he was found nude in the closet of a Thai hotel room, the result of accidental autoerotic asphyxiation) nonetheless put the brakes on what just might have been one of the more interesting sunset career reinventions of modern Hollywood. After all, here was a worldly, well-read guy with a reawakened fire in his belly…

Could Another 'Terminator' Film Be On The Horizon?

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Who knew that one person who would help revive interest in the “Terminator” franchise would be now-former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger? Ever since he went on Twitter and openly expressed his desire to re-start his acting career, buzz over another “Terminator” film has been going through the roof. It comes as a surprise due to the franchise’s semi-demise over the bankruptcy that took place last year. There were a couple of companies that were looking to scoop up the property, but in the end Pacificor won. They opened up the option to Sony Pictures and Lionsgate to be part of distribution for any future “Terminator” movies, but that isn’t happening…

Gears of War Lands Helmer Len Wiseman

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Variety reports that the upcoming “Gears of War” adaptation has got its helmer. Director Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) and writer Chris Morgan (Fast and Furious) will develop the story. “We want to get it right. There’s no timetable for us. We just want to make as good a movie as we can, and we think (Wiseman’s) the guy who will do it,” says Mark Rein from Epic Games. “Gears of War” is based on the hit XBox 360 Epic Games and Microsoft game that follows a team of soldiers who fight to take back the planet Sera from an invasion of super aliens. Stay tuned to Toxic…
