Smallville Producers Happy They Didn't Include Full Superman Suit in Series Finale

‘Smallville’ executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders are standing by their decision to stay true to their “No Tights, No Flight” philosophy during the May 13, 2011 series finale, The Hollywood Reporter is confirming. The two continue to maintain that the hit CW sci-fi drama, which chronicled Clark Kent’s life before he became Superman for 10 seasons, wasn’t about showing lead actor Tom Welling in the full famous Superman suit. Former ‘Smallville’ star Kristin Kreuk is defending herself after the show’s fans criticized her for saying she doesn’t think her character, Lana Lang, should return for the show’s upcoming series finale, www.tvline.com is reporting. Kreuk said that she doesn’t believe “there was ever a real offer for me to come back,” even though former co-stars Michael Rosenbaum and Allison Mack are reprising their roles of Lex and Chloe. Screenwriter David Goyer hinted at what the storyline for the new ‘Superman’ reboot, to be directed by Zack Snyder, may focus on, Cinemablend.com is reporting. Goyer penned a forward for the new graphic novel Superman: Secret Origin by Geoff Johns. After reflecting on one of the scenes in the book, he wrote that he’s halfway through his screenplay. While Goyer admits that he may become hindered in finishing the script, like many previous ‘Superman’ screenwriters before him, he hopes to be inspired by Johns’s Superman stories. Renowned New Zealand actor Temuera Morrison (“Once Were Warriors”, Jango Fett from the “Star Wars” prequel films) and New Zealand filmmaker/actor Taika Waititi have both joined the cast of Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Green Lantern.” Morrison has been cast as Abin Sur, the alien Green Lantern Corps member responsible for Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) joining the intergalactic courage-fueled police force. Waititi will play Hal Jordan’s close friend and confidante Tom “Pieface” Kalmaku. Peter Sarsgaard has been cast in Warner Brothers’ upcoming adaptation of DC Comics’ “Green Lantern” as the villainous Hector Hammond.
