Callum Blue Joins Smallville As Zod

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Callum Blue (“The Tudors”, “Related”, “The Secret Diary of a Call Girl”), has been cast to join the hit WB TV series “Smallville”‘s ninth season as the infamous General Zod. The Kryptonian villain Zod was actually first introducted in the 1980 film “Superman II”, played by Terence Stamp, though the character was later retconned into the history of the DC comic book character as a ruthless general and enemy of Superman’s family from his home planet, imprisoned and thus spared the destruction of Krypton. Brian Austin Green Joining Smallville

MTV’s Splashpage is reporting that fresh off the cancellation of “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”, Brian Austin Green will be joining the cast of the hit TV series “Smallville”. Green will be playing Metallo, aka John Corben, a Daily Planet journalist who is later transformed into the villainous cyborg powered by Kryptonite, the meteor rock that is lethal to the Man of Steel. “Terminator Salvation” star Sam Worthington confirmed to Moviehole.net that he has recently talked to Martin Campbell about Campbell’s “Green Lantern”, the big-screen adaptation of the DC Comics title about the ring-wielding intergalactic space police force. Worthington can next be seen in the upcoming latest installment of the Terminator franchise playing Marcus Wright, the resistance fighter from another time who discovers that he is in fact a decommissioned Terminator prototype. Green Lantern Release Date Moved Back

Box Office Mojo is listing a new release date for Martin Campbell’s big-screen adaptation of “Green Lantern” for DC, moving it from December 17th 2010 to June 17th 2011. Whether or not this will affect plans to start shooting in Australia in September or if the move is to give Campbell more time for post-production and FX is unknown. Hitfix is reporting that Bradley Cooper (“Alias”, “The Hangover”) is a frontrunner to portray Hal Jordan in Martin Campbell’s adaptation of the DC title “Green Lantern” though no deal has been signed yet. The film is set for a December 17th, 2010 release. The “Green Lantern” was created in 1940 by Bill Finger and Martin Nodell, though several characters have used the name. Warner Bros. and DC Comics’ next big budget feature, the big-screen adaptation of “Green Lantern” will be made at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Martin Campbell (“Casino Royale”) will be directing the comic book’s big screen adaptation, working from a script by Greg Berlanti and Michael Green.
