Weekly Comic: I Will Rip Your Heart Out

Sunday, August 7th, 2011

The recently defeated bill to more properly restrict violent video games has left me puzzled at the hypocrisy of our anthropomorphic government, which in my imagination is a befuddled senior citizen harshly debating with a cornered ficus about the violent nature of Primal Rage. When I can turn on the television to find nearly naked women advertising soap, waving synthetic private parts on the The Daily Show, or [insert any MTV show here] with nary a concerned finger being raised I can confidently say that the Supreme Court was correct in their recent ruling. I cannot see another round of unregulated alarmist restrictions ever helping as much as parents doing…

Captain America: The First Avenger Movie Review 2

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

Title: Captain America: The First Avenger Directed by: Joe Johnston Starring: Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Dominic Cooper, Stanley Tucci Captain America: The First Avenger represents a change of pace in the recent adapted comic-book blockbuster movie practice. The 125 minutes are delivered in a methodical, unplugged manner. Translation: director Joe Johnston is surprisingly attuned of the time period this Marvel Comic hero was conjured up in. That said, there is expensive CGI being wielded when necessary, but a good portion of this plays out like an old Batman and/or Incredible Hulk television show; with the exception of grander set-designs and a quasi-more realistic scenario (for…

Call of Duty Black Ops

Weekly Comic: Every Call of Duty Black Ops Online Match

Sunday, June 19th, 2011

I am a self-professed addict to Call of Duty Black Ops especially the online packs. One thing I’ve never understood is quite how the game thinks the proper place to spawn the next wave of enemies is directly behind you. This is especially true in Nuketown, a level that gleefully mows you down in an infinite cycle of slaughter. Zero-lives is a weekly comic strip lampooning the world of video games from the 8bit predecessors to the current systems. If it’s video game related it’s fair game. Rated E for everyone. Duke Nukem Forever

Weekly Comic: Duke Nukem For…Never

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

Duke Nukem was an essential element of my youth, growing up it became the epitome of the 90′s running steadily on my pentium one equipped laptop. When a sequel was announced I remember scrounging for scraps of info from EGM and GamePro waiting in anticipation…waiting…waiting. Having it released should foreshadow the coming apocalypse, fulfilling some long forgotten prophecy scrawled on the Egyptian walls of ancient times. My interest in it is genuine, but my anticipation is perhaps nonexistant. It could be released and bring with it the accolades of the entire gaming media, but in an age where we have “matured” I would be more excited about The Wizard 2….

The Apocalypse

Weekly Comic: The Rapture 2011

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

It’s May 22nd and everything appears to be copacetic… or is it? Zero-lives is a weekly comic strip lampooning the world of video games from the 8bit predecessors to the current systems. If it’s video game related it’s fair game. Rated E for everyone. By Shane Parker, (Zero-lives.blogspot.com)

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Comic

Weekly Comic: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

Monday, May 16th, 2011

After logging in more hours on Call of Duty than the US actually spent in war I have come to the conclusion that I am addicted to customization. Each gun I own has 2 attachments via warlord, a variety of paintjobs and an assortment of varieties of weapons to cover close combat to mortal kombat. If I were ever in the real military I’m sure that I would attempt to configure a weapon of every attachment from a flame thrower to a welded canteen of death until it became too heavy to carry, then I would simply get a wheel under-barrel attachment. Zero-lives is a weekly comic strip lampooning the…

Weekly Comic: I've Seen the Future

Monday, May 9th, 2011

After playing Portal 2′s multiplayer I can only hope the future of Valve doesn’t turn exclusively towards online single player. Playing any game in co-op mode is only fun when paired with someone who you actually know and thus removes any method of anonymity, the four loco of the internet world, turning somewhat sane people into insolent jerk. If the future of gaming is online then the PSN has the right idea. Zero-lives is a weekly comic strip lampooning the world of video games from the 8bit predecessors to the current systems. Problems with online gaming

Weekly Comic: Sony's Security Update

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

A lot has been said about Sony’s recent baffling bungling of their online gaming network and the fact that it was found to be running on Windows ME. As a PS3 gamer I can honestly say that they have managed to make me look at Xbox Live for my online gaming needs, which if you consider how much I hate Microsoft’s nickel and dimming Gold schemes should indicate how bad the situation has gotten. Basically I have come to the conclusion that no console has a perfect or even adequate service for Internet gaming, they all are a sucky mess of crap that makes me actually miss the days of…

The Easter Egg Hunt

Weekly Comic: Easter Egg Hunt

Sunday, April 24th, 2011

Portal 2 has become my latest addiction, each level is caked (pun intended) with secrets and intrigue to the point where I spend more time looking for Easter eggs than actually solving the puzzles. It’s a tradition I can hopefully share when my son grows beyond size 2 diapers. Zero-lives is a weekly comic strip lampooning the world of video games from the 8bit predecessors to the current systems. If it’s video game related it’s fair game. Rated E for everyone.
