Continuing with Shockya’s new mini-series The Best and Worst Films of 2011…So Far, this installment ironically includes historical dramas and car action movies on both the greatest and poorest lists. There’s so many projects that make their way in and out of development in Hollywood that sometimes it’s hard to keep track. No! Fright Night may have hit its first bump in the road. After nabbing Anton Yelchin for the lead role and lining up Colin Farrell and Toni Collette to star alongside him, Shock Till You Drop discovered that the Fright Night remake could be Fright Night 3D. The site first pointed out the additional dimension back in the summer of 2009, but since, the 3D addendum has been missing from the film’s title. Anton Yelchin (“Terminator Salvation” and “Star Trek”) is in talks to play Charley Brewster in DreamWorks Pictures’ remake of the cult 1985 film “Fright Night”. Craig Gillespie (“Lars and the Real Girl”) is attached do direct the project. Michael De Luca and Alison R. Rosenzweig are producing “Fright Night”, with Lloyd Ivan Miller, Josh Bratman, and Michael Gaeta executive producing. The original film was written and directed by Tom Holland, and was a horror comedy about a teenager (William Ragsdale) who discovers that one of his neighbors is a vampire. Yet another horror reboot is in the works, Fright Night. This one comes from the folks at DreamWorks and will stay true to Tom Holland’s 1985 original, but toss in some updated effects. The man in charge of making this a reality? Probably Craig Gillespie.
