The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Callum Blue (”The Tudors”, “Related”, “The Secret Diary of a Call Girl”), has been cast to join the hit WB TV series “Smallville”’s ninth season as the infamous General Zod.
The Kryptonian villain Zod was actually first introducted in the 1980 film “Superman II”, played by Terence Stamp, though the character was later retconned into the history of the DC comic book character as a ruthless general and enemy of Superman’s family from his home planet, imprisoned and thus spared the destruction of Krypton.

MTV’s Splashpage is reporting that fresh off the cancellation of “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”, Brian Austin Green will be joining the cast of the hit TV series “Smallville”.
Green will be playing Metallo, aka John Corben, a Daily Planet journalist who is later transformed into the villainous cyborg powered by Kryptonite, the meteor rock that is lethal to the Man of Steel. MTV is reporting that he is expected to appear in at least two episodes, starting September 25th.

Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. and the TV network the CW are scrapping plans for “The Graysons”, a “Smallville”-style show about the pre-Boy Wonder days of Dick Grayson, known in the Batman mythos as the first Robin.
The CW was initially counting on “The Graysons” to fill the void of the likely end of “Smallville”, which tells the story of a young pre-Superman Clark Kent growing up and discovering his powers and heritage, but Jeff Robinov, the Warner Bros group prexy, pulled the plug, though he’d initially given the concept his blessing when first announced.
