IMAX has announced it will re-release the movie at the following locations starting on January 23rd. The Dark Knight by director Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins) stars Christian Bale (Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins), Heath Ledger (Brokeback Mountain) and Michael Caine.

Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. will not attempt at distributing “The Dark Knight” in China, despite a strong foreign box office payoff for the film at over $450 million.
Warner released this statement about the situation, saying that “Based on a number of pre-release conditions that are being attached to ‘The Dark Knight’ as well as cultural sensitivities to some elements of the film, we have opted to forego a theatrical release of the film in China”.

Actors Angela Bassett (”ER”) and Eric McCormack (”Will & Grace”) announced the nominees for the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild awards live this morning from the Pacific Design Center’s Silver Screen Theater in West Hollywood.
The ceremony will be simulcast live nationally on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 25th, 2009 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. CT, and 6 p.m. MT.

Hoping to keep focus on the film during the height of Oscar season, Warner Bros. is planning to rerelease their summer Batman smash sequel The Dark Knight this January. As a source for The Hollywood Reporter told the trade magazine regarding the film’s rerelease, “It’s just a matter of bringing it back as a reminder for people”. Warner recently admitted to talks with IMAX executives about getting the film back into IMAX during this rerelease as well.
