8 Minutes Of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Screened

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

Upon sitting down for a screening of Rod Lurie’s Straw Dogs, the audience got a nice surprise, eight minutes of David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I’d like to bet the material will hit the web soon enough, but, in the meantime, here’s a general sense of what to look forward to to the best of my recollection. The piece opens with a wintery setting. Christopher Plummer’s Henrik Vanger is holed up in a cabin on the phone with Steven Berkoff’s Dirch Frode. Vanger says, “I can’t take it anymore,” and we move to a city setting where Dragan Armansky (Goran Visnjic) is chatting it up, if I…

The Best and Worst Movies of 2011 So Far (Rudie's Take)

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Some people will say 2011 isn’t a great year for movies. I would tend to disagree with that sentiment. It’s true the number of great films (so far) in 2011 are fewer than 2010 but the ones we do have in 2011 are pretty spectacular and worth watching and discussing. There are movies like Gore Verbinski’s “Rango” or Joe Wright’s “Hanna” are among the favorites of general audiences, just looking at the critical response and box office receipts, but there are also smaller movies that seem to have been forgotten like Cary Fukunaga’s adaptation of “Jane Eyre” and Tom McCarthy’s comic gem, “Win Win”. All of these titles are worthy…

Trent Reznor Scoring The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Remake

Sunday, January 9th, 2011

Singer Trent Reznor, who shocked movie-goers when he scored last year’s hit ‘The Social Network,’ is reteaming with the film’s director, David Fincher, to create the music for his latest film, Collider.com is reporting. Fincher, who’s currently helming the American remake of ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ in Sweden, liked Reznor’s music from the Facebook biopic so much that he recruited him and his scoring partner Atticus Ross to work with him again. The former Nine Inch Nails frontman confirmed his new job during an interview with The New York Times‘ Jon Pareles. ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ remake, which is based on the first novel of the…

David Fincher Wants to Film 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea in 3D

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

Director David Fincher has shown his support for the 3D genre by saying he’s interested in filming one of his upcoming movies, ’20,000 Leagues Under The Sea,’ in the format, Cinemablend.com is reporting. Fincher, who rose to fame in October after helming one of last year’s best reviewed films, ‘The Social Network,’ dismissed the technology’s critics by saying he thinks 3D is cool when it’s done right. However, the director isn’t sure yet when he’ll have time to helm ’20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.’ Fincher is working on the remake of the Swedish hit ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,’ and may also adapt its two sequels, ‘The Girl Who…

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Zack Snyder recently sat down with MTV and talked about his upcoming projects, specifically his involvement with the much-speculated “Heavy Metal” film. “‘Heavy Metal,’ is coasting, [...] I don’t know what’s going to happen, I’m excited about it. I love ‘Heavy Metal,’ if that happens it’ll be great.” A new “Heavy Metal” film has been speculated as being in the works since March 2008 and Snyder has been one of the names attached to directing a segment in the film, which filmmaker David Fincher would be spearheading. “Heavy Metal” is an American science fiction and fantasy comics magazine, known primarily for its blend of dark fantasy/science fiction and erotica based…
