David R. Ellis, the helmer of the newly-released ‘Shark Night 3D,’ has signed on to direct the live action remake of the Japanese anime movie ‘Kite,’ Variety is reporting. Anant Singh and Brian Cox will produce the film through their independent production company Distant Horizon. Moises Cosio and Alejandro Saevich of Mexico’s Deetalle Films will co-produce the movie. The original ‘Kite,’ which was directed by Yasuomi Umetsu, became a cult classic after it was released in 1998. Ellis’ version is being developed as a character-driven action film. Comic Con day one is done. Well, technically, it wasn’t even day one as Wednesday is just preview night. The Incentive Filmed Entertainment project is going to film in 3D, and is written by Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes. It is scheduled to start shooting this summer in Louisiana with Chris Briggs, Mike Fleiss, and Lynette Howell producing.
