MTV Movie Brawl

The Dark Knight Rises Trumps The Avengers In MTV's Movie Brawl

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

A while ago, MTV recognized the massive fandoms behind comic blockbuster films “The Avengers” and “The Dark Knight Rises” could provide a huge showdown when MTV created their MTV Movie Brawl. It was a knock-out, drag-down fight, but in the end, “The Dark Knight Rises” beat “The Avengers” by a narrow percentage of the votes. MTV has provided an analysis of the results, citing the facts that the higher stakes, the lovable factor of Alfred’s (Michael Caine) voice-over versus Nick Fury’s (Samuel L. Jackson) voice-over in “The Avengers,” and the villain Bane (Tom Hardy) gave “The Dark Knight Rises” the edge on “The Avengers.” However, MTV also gives points to…

Superman Fan Videos Show What Superman Returns Could Have Been

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

The Superman franchise is currently one that’s going through a revision. Perhaps while they’re in the planning stages, they could give YouTube user “kashchei2003″ a call. This Superman fan made his own short films from existing movie clips to tell a boss “what-if” story: What if “Superman Returns” was less about Lex Luthor and more about Doomsday? It was intended to be a small, flashy [two] minute trailer for a ‘Man of Steel’, ‘Superman Returns’ sequel, but during the creative process, it became more so I don’t consider it a typical ‘trailer’,” kashchei2003 wrote in the YouTube description for “Superman: Doomsday (MAN OF STEEL fan sequel)-The Death of Superman (1…

Sandman

The Sandman is not being made into a tv show, for now

Monday, March 14th, 2011

For a while, it was rumored that “Supernatural” creator Eric Kirpke was tied to creating a television adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s seminal comic book, “The Sandman”. However, any hopes (or fears) can be dashed for now. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kirpke said that a show is not in development at this point in time. “[The Sandman] just didn’t quite happen this season through nobody’s fault, and hopefully we can do it again in the future.” According to the article, Kirpke was the top choice to adapt the comic book among Warner Brothers TV executives, so one might wonder what happened to make the show disintegrate. In any event, even though “The…

Lois Lane

Various actresses in contention to be Lois Lane

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Now that Superman has been cast for the upcoming Superman reboot, the sharks are in the water over who’s going to play the role of Lois Lane. According to Cinema Blend, a bevy of actresses could end up cinching the part. Quite a few actresses have been linked to the role, including Mila Kunis, Kristen Stewart, Rachel McAdams, Anne Hathaway, Dianna Agron, Jessica Biel, Malin Ackerman, Oliva Wilde, Natalie Portman and surely others before the month is out. I think there are a few contenders we can automatically rule out. Now that Hathaway has been cast as Catwoman, it’s safe to assume that she’s no longer in the running; she…

Wonder Woman

NBC Picking Up David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman Series

Sunday, January 23rd, 2011

NBC has picked up the new ‘Wonder Woman’ television series being developed by David E. Kelley, Slashfilm.com is reporting. The news comes after all of the major networks, including NBC, recently passed on the series, which will feature the superhero’s famous lasso, cuffs and plane. But NBC ultimately decided to take a chance on the series after it was announced that Robert Greenblatt was appointed as the network’s new prime-time chairman. Even though the networks didn’t have concerns over the series’ story lines, they all expressed concern over potential licensing fees. The networks didn’t want to have to pay DC Comics the required extensive price to reboot the series. But…

Green Lantern Promo Poster

First Official Green Lantern Promo Poster Appeals To Anyone

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

There’s no superhero movie without delving into the massive toy market and Warner Bros., DC Comics and Mattel know it. Warner Bros. issued a press release announcing the monumental year the trio is looking forward to with Batman: The Brace and the Bold, DC Super Friends, Young Justice and, the crowning jewel, Green Lantern. In addition to the toy talk, the release came with the first official promotional art for the film. To a non-Green Lantern enthusiast, like myself, it’s some text with the hero’s symbol in the middle, however, some aren’t pleased with that tagline plastered on top, “Anyone Can Be Chosen.” The problem is, just anyone cannot be…
