David Goyer has been confirmed as writing the new Superman movie, which will be titled “The Man of Steel”. A new Superman film, rumored to be a “reboot” of the franchise based on the popular DC Comics character, has been in talks since 2006′s “Superman Returns” starring Brandon Routhe and directed by Bryan Singer (neither of whom will be returning to the franchise). Goyer, who has also worked on the “Blade” movies and the “Demonic Toys” and “Puppetmaster” franchises, is also attached to assist with the story to the third Christopher Nolan “Batman” movie. Director Jeffrey Blitz and producer Sean Welch (“Spellbound”, “Rocket Science”, “Lucky”) recently revealed that they’ve started filming and production on a documentary about the legendary comic book publishers DC Comics. According to an interview with Collider.com, they home to premiere the movie at this summer’s Comic-Con. Originally founded in 1934 as National Allied Publications, DC Comics is the publishing division of DC Entertainment, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. and Time Warner. The company is home to comic book heroes and titles such as “Superman”, “Wonder Woman”, “Batman”, “Green Lantern”, and “Watchmen.” all of which have either been adapted into multiple media or are in consideration and production stages. Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures are assembling the cast of “Jonah Hex”, a Western tale about a scarred bounty hunter battling sometime-supernatural terrors, for a 10-day reshoot in LA. Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, Megan Fox and Michael Fassbender have all been brought back for reshoots, though no test screenings for the film, an adaptation of the DC Comics’ character of the same name, have taken place yet. Jimmy Hayward is also back to direct the reshoots. “Jonah Hex” was initially slated for an August 6th, 2010 release, but has since been moved up to June 18th.
