G.I. Joe 2 Gets New Release Date

The upcoming sequel to the box-office hit ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’ has been given a new release date of August 10, 2012, Collider.com is reporting. Paramount Pictures, which distributed ‘The Rise of Cobra’ in August 2009, decided on the date change after Stephen Sommers, who directed the first film, choose not to return for the sequel in January. Paramount then scrambled to hire another director, and choose Jon Chu, who helmed last month’s successful Justin Bieber concert movie, ‘Never Say Never.’ Not much is known about the plot for the ‘G.I. Paramount is moving forward with a sequel to this previous summer’s “G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra”. The studio is moving forward with a sequel to last summer’s “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” inspired by the Hasbro toy line. The studio is in negotiations with “Zombieland” scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who have recently signed on to write the “Deadpool” movie, to pen the script for the sequel to the film based on the Hasbro toy line and 1980′s cartoon series. Deadpool Film Gets Zombieland Writers

20th Century Fox has attached Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writing team behind the 2009 horror-comedy hit “Zombieland”, to pen the script for their planned “Deadpool” film, starring Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds would be reprising his role as the “Merc with a Mouth” from Fox’s 2009 “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”.
