Screenwriter Michael Chabon has been hired to write the script for the upcoming Disney movie ‘Magic Kingdom,’ which will be based on the resort’s flagship theme park, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Pulitzer Prize-winning author initially spoke to the movie’s director, Jon Favreau, in March 2011 before he met with Disney executives. The details about the story are being kept secret. However, Chabon, who is reportedly writing a Broadway play based on ‘Dumbo,’ was hired to rewrite the script, which was originally written by ‘Battlestar Galactica’s Ron Moore, when Favreau was hired as the director. Tim Burton’s stop-motion animation masterpiece “The Nightmare Before Christmas” has been released and re-released before. But the new release of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” will show the film in the clarity only Blu-Ray can offer. D23, the official Disney fan club and the Walt Disney Archives have announced the return of the “Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives” exhibit to the D23 Expo. The expo at the Anaheim Convention Center will give fans unprecedented access and insight into 80+ decades of Disney history. The 12,000 square foot expo exhibit, which has doubled in size since the 2009 Expo, will take place August 19-21, 2011. The huge exhibit will showcase what the press release calls “the crown jewels of the Walt Disney Archives Collection”; many of these pieces will be displayed publicly for the first time. One of Disney’s greatest films–and one that defined my Generation Y–is “The Lion King”, and recently, some very big news has come out about the film. Firstly, Disney is going to re-release the film to theaters in a limited Disney Digital 3D release. The film’s limited two-week release will start September 16. Secondly, the film’s home entertainment re-release will start October 4 with the debut of the Diamond Edition in high definition Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray 3D. “The Lion King” will also be released on DVD November 15.
