Interview: Joshua Oppenheimer Talks Conan the Barbarian and Voltron Script

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

Since his inception almost eight decades ago, the character of Conan the Barbarian has inspired countless different stories spanning across all manner of media, so it’s not really a surprise that the new Lionsgate big screen re-boot of the “Conan” film series would involve more than one writer. While Sean Hood polished up the production draft and worked with director Marcus Nispel, Joshua Oppenheimer, along with his writing partner Thomas Dean Donnelly, crafted the original framework of the story, and retains screenplay credit. Recently, ShockYa had a chance to speak to the screenwriter one-on-one, about the enduring appeal of the character of Conan, the absolute necessity of thick skin when…

Trailer for Dylan Dog: Dead of Night released

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

The trailer for the film adaptation of “Dylan Dog: Dead of Night” has been released on YouTube. The trailer seems to have the same zany, slightly indie, fun style that “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” has, without all of the special effects, of course. (It’s worth mentioning that Brandon Routh seems to be getting serious comic-book cred: he also starred in “Scott Pilgrim” and, of course played Superman.) It’s also slightly macabre, so if you’re into that, this movie might be for you. The film stars Routh (“Superman Returns”, “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”) as the title character, a private detective who specializes in the world of the undead. Dylan…

Also in the cast are Sam Huntington, Taye Diggs, Anita Briem, Peter Stormare and Kurt Angle. You can check out the image below. First appearing in 1986, “Dylan Dog” follows the adventures of the red-and-black clad, perpetually-broke title character, a “nightmares detective” who tackles supernatural cases. Taye Digg Joins The Cast of Dead Of Night

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Taye Digg has joined Brandon Routh in “Dead Of Night”, the adaptation of the Italian horror comic title “Dylan Dog”. Shock Til You Drop, who broke the story, are reporting that Digg will be playing the leader of a coven of vampires who face off against Routh’s perennially-broke, supernatural-battling detective, Dylan Dog. “Dylan Dog” was created by Tiziano Sclavi in 1986, about a private investigator based in London who routinely deals with supernatural and horror-oriented cases, and the cast includes the Groucho Marx-inspired sidekick Groucho, his former superior and contact Inspector Bloch of Scotland Yard, and the shadow of his father, Dr. Xabaras. Dark Horse Comics has been publishing the…
