Scream 4 Movie Review

Title: Scream 4 Directed By: Wes Craven Starring: Neve Campbell, Courteny Cox, David Arquette, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Alison Brie, Marielle Jaffe, Marley Shelton, Erik Knudsen, Nico Tortorella There’s no beginning this review without acknowledging that I’m a diehard franchise fan. While I was thrilled to death over the announcement of Scream 4, of course the excitement came with a twinge of nervous skepticism. What if Scream 4 tarnished the original trilogy? Well, I’ve got good news; Scream 4 doesn’t do that in the least. While the film does boast quite a few throwbacks ranging from character traits, to comparable visuals to direct references to the original story,  [ Read More ]

Scream 4 Soundtrack Available To Pre-Order

With two more weeks to go until Ghostface makes his return to the big screen, the promotional material continues to pour in. Not only do we have four new photos, but information on the Scream 4 soundtrack, too. First up, the stills. Clearly there’s going to be some romantic tension between Rory Culkin and Hayden Panettiere’s character or perhaps just a little teasing on Panettiere’s part as Culkin looks a little more in-the-moment in this first image. Second we’ve got a shot of Courteney Cox looking as though she’s attempting to evade the killer in that barn scene. There’s also a shot of Emma Roberts and Scream 4‘s Billy Loomis  [ Read More ]

This week had its ups and downs and the Movie News Cheat Sheet is back to bring you a sampling of this erratic smorgasbord. On the bright side, we’ve got a slew of new material from Scream 4, hopeful news about another Chronicles of Narnia movie in the works and news of life after The Social Network for Armie Hammer. On the other hand, Sucker Punch stomped into theaters this weekend and insults just about everyone in its path. However the upheaval over Zack Snyder’s CGI and fetish exhibition gone wrong is dwarfed by the passing of someone who’s had an overwhelming impact on this industry, Elizabeth Taylor. Returning to  [ Read More ]

We all go a little mad sometimes, right? Okay, maybe not in the Billy Loomis sense, but I’ve certainly had moments when I’ve let my thoughts get to me. Pressure in school, pressure at work and pressure at home all collide to create this whirlwind of emotion. However, regardless of how out of control those times might make me feel, I’ve never gotten the urge to do what Craig (Keir Gilchrist) does in It’s Kind of a Funny Story. Based on Ned Vizzini’s novel, the film focuses on Craig, a typical teen who’s drowning trying to manage the pressure of the expectations or his prestigious high school as well as  [ Read More ]

It's Kind Of A Funny Story Gets It Right With Poster #2

Posted by Perri Nemiroff On August - 21 - 2010 0 Comment

So Dinner for Schmucks wasn’t that great and Twelve was downright awful, but that doesn’t mean 2010 will be a bummer for Zach Galifianakis and Emma Roberts. They’ve still got It’s Kind of a Funny Story on the way and based on the trailer, the film will be hilarious and pretty endearing, too. It’s based on the novel by Ned Vizzini and stars United States of Tara’s Keir Gilchrist as the lead character, Craig. He’s a teen suffering from depression who opts to check himself into a psychiatric hospital. The youth ward is under renovation, so Craig has to bunk with the adults. That’s where he meets Bobby (Galifiankis), another  [ Read More ]

Emma Roberts doesn’t only hang out at parties with the kids from Twelve and run from the killer in Scream 4, she plays basketball too! ComingSoon has two new images of Roberts on the set of James C. Strouse’s upcoming comedy The Winning Season. The film stars Sam Rockwell as Bill, a former basketball star who loses it all to booze. He gets a second chance when asked to coach his daughter’s high school varsity basketball team. This one’s been around for quite a while. Images first started floating around back in 2008, just before it made its debut at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Lionsgate picked up the piece  [ Read More ]

New Scream 4 Set Photos Take Us Back To School

Posted by Perri Nemiroff On July - 5 - 2010 0 Comment

Someone’s keeping quite busy on the Michigan set of Scream 4 and I’m not talking about director Wes Craven or any of his actors. A shutterbug has been snooping around Woodsboro High snapping tons of photos. There’s nothing too shocking in any of the images, but there is a nice little throw back to the first film in one. Remember the jacket poor Steve lost his life in while his girlfriend Casey had a chat with the killer? Well, there are several young men donning them in the name of school spirit. You can take a look at that as well as a handful of other images below, but head  [ Read More ]

It was quite obvious that replacing Lake Bell would be no problem for Wes Craven. In fact, not only did he find a new actress to fill the role of Deputy Judy Hicks, but two other parts as well. As reported by THR, Marley Shelton, Erik Knudsen and Adam Brody have all joined the cast of Scream 4. Clearly Shelton is the one who’ll fill Bell’s shoes as the deputy who knew Sidney Prescott back in high school. Knudsen’s role is being described as a Randy-esque character, a guy who frequents horror movie connections and will be a source of comic relief. As for Brody, he’s on board to play  [ Read More ]

After the poor showing at Sundance and a defectively constructed trailer, the poster for Twelve is just the item I need to justify my high hopes for the film, even if it’s just a little bit. Had I not read a single review, seen any stills or caught the film’s trailer, this is what I’d imagine the film’s poster to look like. The film is being marketed as though Chace Crawford’s character, White Mike, is the star. In Nick McDonell’s book, upon which the film is based, White Mike may be the centerpiece of the work as the one who unites all of the characters, but only a portion of  [ Read More ]

Sample Some Twelve In The Film's Official Trailer

Posted by Perri Nemiroff On June - 5 - 2010 0 Comment

Having loved Nick McDonell’s novel Twelve and eagerly awaiting Joel Schumacher’s big screen adaption, I had no problem forgetting about the swarms of negative reviews that emerged from Sundance. Now that the film’s official trailer is here, I can ignore the panning no longer because I see the problem; Schumacher has stripped the story of any heart and turned it into a teen drama à la Gossip Girl. When casting details first arrived, I assumed Rory Culkin was taking the lead role of White Mike. I’m sure he makes a fine Chris, but Chace Crawford is just way too pretty to be playing a troubled drug dealer. It doesn’t help  [ Read More ]

Valentines Day Movie Review

Posted by Perri Nemiroff On February - 15 - 2010 0 Comment

Title: Valentine’s Day Directed by: Garry Marshall Starring: Taylor Lautner (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), Bradley Cooper (The A-Team), Anne Hathaway (Alice in Wonderland), Jessica Biel, Taylor Swift, Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher and Jessica Alba. The power of a consumer driven holiday is frustratingly overwhelming. We’re weakened to the point that we’re willing to drop hundreds of dollars on overpriced meals, greeting cards and flowers even though a simple ‘I Love You’ would have sufficed. Not only have I conceded and bought gifts, flowers, cards and candy, but I haven been suckered into enjoying one of the most poorly made films of the year, Valentine’s Day. Brace yourself; this is no  [ Read More ]
