With Turkey day upon us, one of our talented writers (Melissa Molina) came up with an idea to have the ShockYa scribes come up with a list that represents what they were thankful for in the realm of cinema and/or television this year. A lot has happened so allow me to drop in my humble thoughts (a.k.a poor attempts at humor) that had me rejoicing: A Decent Year For Remakes -Which means for yours truly: “Fright Night,” “Straw Dogs,” and “Footloose” did not draw out my writing rage. Those were the ones I had a particular interest in; and with regards to Fright Night and Footloose – they respectfully topped…

The time has come; The Twilight Saga is back to demolish box office records via painfully unworthy material. Due out in 4,061 theaters, Breaking Dawn – Part 1 could at the very least be Eclipse all over again. In the summer of 2010, Eclipse opened with a strong $64.8 million, but it was up against two solid performers, newcomer The Last Airbender and Toy Story 3, which was still going strong in its third week. The big question is, could Breaking Dawn make the massive leap and trump Eclipse to come closer to New Moon‘s $142.8 million opening? It’s doubtful, but that doesn’t mean Breaking Dawn won’t come close. Should…

Regardless of the critical consensus thus far, this weekend could offer up two fairly solid performers. While I hope Adam Sandler in drag and miserable reviews wind up scaring off a fair amount of his loyal followers, it looks as though Jack and Jill will enter cross-dressing fame alongside the latest installment of Tyler Perry’s Madea franchise with about $25 million. On a $75 million budget, it’s Tarsem Singh’s Immortals that’s got far more to lose. The latest pricy adventure film, The Three Musketeers, tanked hard, but there’s a chance that that might have created enough of a longing for something solid in the action realm for Immortals to post…

We’re getting a double dose of comedy to ring in the new month – Tower Heist and A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas. Of the two, Tower Heist is likely to come out on top courtesy of its star-studded cast and 3,200+ theaters. Should Tower Heist post a $8,000 per theater average, somewhat similar to that of Night of the Museum, it’ll finish its first weekend with about $25 million. As for A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, it looks to fall right in line with its predecessor, Escape from Guantanamo Bay. Should Harold & Kumar snag another $6,000 per theater average it’ll accumulate about $16 million for…

Real Steel ($4.7 million) 7. The Three Musketeers ($3.5 million) 8. The Ides of March ($2.7 million) 9. Moneyball ($2.4 million) 10. It’s Halloween weekend, yet, sadly, there are no new horror releases. Then again, this will most certainly bode well for last weekend’s big winner, Paranormal Activity 3. With many in the mood for a good scare, zero competition and a stellar opening, Paranormal Activity 3 could hold on far stronger than the second film, losing just 35% of its opening earnings in week two, giving it another $34 million. However, that likely won’t be enough to hold onto that #1 spot two weekends in a row. As for our newcomers, the biggest earner will likely be Puss in Boots. With zero competition in the family-friendly department and a whopping 3,800+…
