It’s official! According to Entertainment Weekly, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler have been signed back on as judges for “American Idol”. This will make the show’s 11th season, as well as Jackson’s 11th season as a judge on the show. The only wild card this time around is Jennifer Lopez, who is reportedly “on the fence” due to her new “American Idol”-esque project “Q’Viva.” Time for my personal opinion: After sitting through this season of “American Idol,” I would hope beyond hope that the two judges–three, if Lopez returns–stop reusing the same words and phrases like “beautiful,” “beyond critique”, and the now-infamous, “In it to win it.” Also, in the  [ Read More ]

Posted by monique On May - 31 - 2011 0 Comment

Sure, it’s been about a week or two since the last episode of this season’s “American Idol” ended with Scotty McCreery winning the whole shebang, but the other big story to come out from the season, aside from the weird squabble between last year’s winner Lee Dewyze and “Idol” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, is what top 3 finalist Haley Reinhart is doing post-Idol. The Hollywood Reporter posted an interview with Reinhart yesterday, in which they talked about the finale, singing with Tony Bennett, and her singing plans. When asked about whether she was notified of the possibility of taking Lauren Alaina’s spot due to her vocal issues on the final  [ Read More ]

American Idol: What's with the Haley bashing?

Posted by monique On May - 12 - 2011 2 Comments

Yesterday on “American Idol”, contestant Haley Reinhart was viciously called out by judges Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez for singing “Earth Song” during the segment of the show where the contestants could sing songs that inspired them. On any other day or on any other season, the critiques could be taken as valid. But when James Durbin just competently sings “Don’t Stop Believin’” and is said to have “set the bar” with said performance, something just doesn’t add up. Let’s not even add in the fact that Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina also don’t receive anything in the way of critique except heaps of praise. Not everyone loves Michael Jackson’s  [ Read More ]
