Writing Team Tapped For Shazam

Warner Bros. Pictures has attached reknowned comic book writer Geoff Johns, alongside Bill Birch, to write “Shazam!”, the big-screen adaptation of the DC Comics character Captain Marvel, the young boy who calls on the magic word “Shazam,” then name of the benevolent wizard who gives him his powers, to summon ancient magics and become the adult superhero known as Captain Marvel. Peter Segal (“Get Smart”) is on-board to direct and produce alongside Michael Ewing. Johns, who is also attached to write a “Flash” movie, will also consult on the project. Geoff Johns Onboard A Flash Movie For DC/Warner

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that renowned comic book scribe Geoff Johns, who has worked on the critically-acclaimed “Green Lantern” titles for DC Comics as well as the recent “The Flash: Rebirth”, has been tapped to produce and co-write a “Flash” adaptation for the big screen. Warner Bros. hired Johns, as well as Grant Morrison and Marv Wolfman last fall to act as writers and consultants on several superhero projects, which has resulted in a treatment for a “Flash” adaptation that Johns write. Dan Mazeau is working on a script based on that treatment. No director has been announced yet. Stay tuned for more “Flash” and other DC properties news…
