After films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Be Kind Rewind, you wouldn’t think Michel Gondry knew a thing about filming major explosions. Well, that’s certainly not the case and this brand new trailer for Green Hornet is packed with them. Yes, the trailer goes right for the superhero movie soft spot flashing fancy weapons, cool cars and a few beat downs, but at least the material is entertaining. Considering the massive amount of cynicism surrounding this project thanks to every problem in the book from cast dropouts to reported reshoots, this trailer is impressive. Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Christoph Waltz (Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds”) has been cast as the villain in “The Green Hornet” from Columbia Pictures, filling in the role that Nicholas Cage was rumored to play but walked away from. Waltz, who plays a Nazi antagonist in “Basterds”, has been cast as Chudnofsky against Seth Rogen’s Green Hornet in the Sony film, which also stars Cameron Diaz and Jay Chou. The Michel Gondry-directed adaptation, which is based on the character that premiered in the 1930′s and went on to star in a radio serial, comic strips, and a live-action TV show, is scheduled for a December 17th, 2010 release. Despite rumors, Heat Vision is reporting that Nicolas Cage won’t be starring as a villain in “The Green Hornet” from Columbia Pictures and director Michel Gondry , having walked away from the production that’s already started filming in Los Angeles after negotiations fell through. No footage of Cage had been shot yet. Columbia is planning a December 17th, 2010 release for the adaptation of “The Green Hornet”, an adaptation of the superhero franchise based on the radio serial of the 1930′s.
