Shame on the Lazy Press: Thoughts of a Journalist (2011)

Monday, December 5th, 2011

Know where you’ll find a considerable lack of integrity, dignity, etiquette, and a work ethic? At Hollywood press events. Call me old-fashioned (or just smart), but when a journalist covers an event, they should probably have prepared some inquires to ask the people either going up to the podium and/or walking the red gauntlet (carpet); that are prepared to answer the obvious and obscure. Or at the very least, know who the bloody hell they are! I believe that’s called doing your job – or a good job. Recently, I attended a major press junket & red-carpeted event for the DVD release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part…

Sienna Miller and JK Rowling Testify British Media Makes Them Feel Like Hostages

Friday, November 25th, 2011

Sienna Miller and ‘Harry Potter’ writer J.K. Rowling testified in a London courtroom on November 23, saying living under the scrutiny of the British tabloid media leaves them anxious, angry and fearful, the Detroit Free Press is reporting. They added that the constant watch by the media makes them feel like prisoners in their own homes. While Rowling said that when you’re famous, you in essence ask for the attention. But she told the media ethics inquiry that having journalists on her doorstep makes her feel like she’s under siege. Rowling also said that no one prepared her for the media attention she received after her first book, ‘Harry Potter…

Harry Potter Movies Soon To Be Gone From Stores

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

I think everyone thought even though “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” had come and gone, they’d still be able to pick up their copies of any one of the “Harry Potter” films from their local movie store. Warner Bros. is basically telling everyone to think again, since after December 29, the films will be gone from the shelves for good. According to Entertainment Weekly, there will be no “Harry Potter” films shipped to stores. This includes the humongous “Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection. According to the site, WB might be trying to make a move like Disney, who has put into place a lucrative home entertainment model which…
