The Hobbit Starting In June

Sir Ian McKellan, who will confirmed on his personal website that “The Hobbit” films, prequels to the highly successful “Lord Of The Rings” trilogy of films, is set to start shooting in June of 2010. The statement reads; “THE HOBBIT’s, two films, start shooting in New Zealand in June. Filming will take over a year. Casting in Los Angeles, New York City and London has started. The script too proceeds. According to an interview with actor Dominic Monaghan, all four Hobbits from The Lord of the Rings may return for “The Hobbit” written and produced by Peter Jackson and directed by visionary film director Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth). Guillermo Del Toro’s recent work includes “Hellboy 2″ starring Ron Perlman and Doug Jones (Hellboy, Carnies). “They really want us to come back, and I think there’s a really strong chance that we might be back,” Actor Dominic Monaghan told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival. Del Toro to Write Vampire Novels

World renowned book publisher HarperCollins has bought the rights to a thriller vampire trilogy from acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro and award-winning novelist Chuck Hogan. The unnamed series’ first book, The Strain, details the invasion of a vampire-like virus in New York City that was brought in from a plane touching down at the infamous JFK airport. Del Toro says of the series, “The idea is epic in scope. Guillermo del Toro Booked Until 2017

According to an article in Variety, Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy director, Guillermo Del Toro, has a large number of projects lined up with Universal Studios which will keep him occupied until the year 2017. Del Toro’s main focus is currently on the Lord of the Rings prequel, The Hobbit, which is set for release in 2012. However, once he is done with the film, he will start on at least four new films for Universal. The movies reportedly slated for production are reboots of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five and Robert Louis Stevenson’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
