Anne Hathaway is the leading contender to take on the role of Fantine in the upcoming anticipated film version of the musical ‘Les Miserables,’ Broadway World is reporting. The ‘Dark Knight Rises’ actress is at the top of the list for the role, at the urging of Hugh Jackman, with whom she sang with during the opening of the 2009 Academy Awards. Hathaway has the experience to appear as Fantine, as she portrayed Lili in ‘Carnival!’ at Encores. Title: Snow Flower and the Secret Fan Director: Wayne Wang Starring: Bingbing Li, Gianna Jun After the first 30-45 minutes, one can easily see how “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan” worked as an engrossing read. As for the 120 minute cinematic adaptation of Lisa See’s novel: A Gilbert Gottfried “ehhh not so much.” (Youtube it) This telling, that poorly attempts to run the original story set in 19th century China parallel with a modern-day narrative, fails to capture your attention. While Hugh Jackman was at Comic-Con to promote his upcoming boxing drama ‘Real Steel,’ he confirmed he’ll be appearing in the new musical adaptation of ‘Les Miserables’ and revealed who the new villain will be in ‘The Wolverine,’ ReelzChannel is reporting. In ‘Les Miserables,’ which is being helmed by ‘The King’s Speech’ Academy Award-winning director Tom Hooper, Jackman will portray ex-convict Jean Valjean. He also said that ‘The Wolverine’ villain will be Silver Samurai, which came as no surprise to ‘X-Men’ fans. Jackman confirmed that ‘Les Miserables’ will begin shooting in February 2012.
