Warner Home Video has released the DVD artwork and specs for the upcoming release of Will Smith’s “I Am Legend” on March 18th. The standard DVD release will include 4 animated comics, and a DVD-Rom Weblink to bonus features chronicling the movies creation and some other cool stuff. The two disk special edition will be released the same day and will feature the “Controversial” ending — You remember, the one that Will Smith accidentally leaked in a Tokyo news conference! Variety reports that Will Smith and “I Am Legend” made box office history yesterday December 14th, posting a $29.7 million opening day smashing records. It was the second largest opening for Warner Brothers Studios, second only to “Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix, which took $44.2 million on its opening day. It is predicted that “I Am Legend” will be this weekends smash hit, with “Alvin and the Chipmunks” trailing in at 13.3 million.

Variety.com reports today that “I Am Legend” will have an official release around Asia later in the month, and though it has already been green lit in Hong Kong, it has been banned everywhere else in China. This ban is not just on the “I Am Legend” release, but will keep most American films from releasing in China to protect their local film market for the next three months.
Will Smith comments in Hong Kong, “We struggled very, very hard to try to get it to work out, but there are only a certain amount of foreign films that are allowed in.”
