Marvel Studios have announced that Tom Hiddleston (BBC’s “Wallander”, HBO’s “The Gathering Storm”) has been cast to play the villainous Norse God of mischief Loki, in the studio’s highly-anticipated big-screen adaptation of “Thor”. Director Kenneth Branagh recently sat down with IGN to dish on “Thor”, the big-screen adaptation of the Marvel Comics character. He mentions that while no casting decisions have yet to be made still, pre-production is in full swing and shooting is scheduled to begin in January of 2010. “Rome” and “Journeyman” actor Kevin McKidd claims he’s still in the running to play Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the Marvel Comics character, according to a report by IGN. McKidd recently told IGN that he’s a contender for the lead role and that there has been “a lot of back and forth” between various people about the project, but could confirm nothing else, but that nothing has been determined.
