Proof Optioned For Animated Series

Comics2Film is reporting that Kickstart Entertainment has optioned “Proof” from Image Comics, as an animated television series. The site is also reporting that Samuel L. Jackson is attached to the project. The comic book was created by Alex Grecian and Riley Rossmo and focuses on operatives of the mysterious organization known as The Lodge, led in the field by John “Proof” Prufrock, a sasquatch. Proof and the other members of The Lodge investigate cases of fabled creatures called “cryptids” such as the Chupacabra, lake monsters, and thunderbirds. An anonymous source to /film has leaked that Cartoon Network has picked up the comic book “Firebreather”, for either an animated/CGI TV movie or an ongoing series. The source connects Peter Chung (Aeon Flux, Reign: The Conqueror) to the “Firebreather” adaptation in the director’s role. “Firebreather” is an Image Comics title created by Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn focusing on the life of a teenage half-dragon, whose mother is human but whose father is the King Of Monsters who’d want nothing more than his son to inherit his title. The Top Cow/Image Comics title “Aphrodite IX”, along with help from Threshold Entertainment and Platinum Studios, will be adapting the title into a 3-D feature film, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter. Producers are looking for the female lead for the film to portray the title character, which centers on an amnesiac cyborg assassin whose memory would be wiped after each mission, who begins a search for her former life when she finally starts to become self-aware. Variety is reporting that Brett Ratner is on board to direct a live-action adaptation of the comic book “Youngblood” for Reliance Big Entertainment, and Indian media conglomerate. “Youngblood” is a fictional superhero team that starred in their self-titled comic book, created by Rob Liefeld. The team made its debut as a backup feature in the 1987 one-shot “Megaton: Explosion” before later appearing in its own ongoing series in 1992 as the flagship publication for Image Comics, which Liefeld started with several other stars of the industry at the time, including “Spawn” creator Todd McFarlane.
