Warner Brothers have tapped Sony Pictures Imageworks to take the lead for the visual effects for “Green Lantern”. Karen Goulekas (“The Day After Tomorrow”), Kent Houston (“The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”). and Jim Berney (“I Am Legend”) from Imageworks will be overseeing the project, an adaptation of the DC comics character and title “Green Lantern”, an test pilot chosen to become a member of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic peacekeeping force powered by fearlessness. Peter Sarsgaard has been cast in Warner Brothers’ upcoming adaptation of DC Comics’ “Green Lantern” as the villainous Hector Hammond. Originally appearing in the pages of 1961′s “Green Lantern”, the character was created by John Broome and Gil Kane. Hammond was exposed to the radiating energies of a strange meteor, which gave him telepathic powers and also mutated his features, giving him an exaggeratedly-large head.
