The Big Year

The Big Year Movie Review 2

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Title: The Big Year Director: David Frankel Starring: Owen Wilson, Jack Black, Steve Martin, Rosamund Pike, Joel McHale, Kevin Pollak, Brian Dennehy, Dianne Wiest You could age an average of five years depending on what your expectations are when walking into The Big Year. Having a core cast of comedic stars would suggest multiple jovial outbursts. Or at least a smile. Instead, this is simply a nice story about following one’s passion and what sacrifices come with that choice. The Big Year is all about who can spot the most species of bird in a calendar year. Kenny Bostick (Owen Wilson) is the all-time record holder and wants to make…

He is presuming that you’re an Audubon enthusiast, happy to tell you where to find members of a winged species. “The Big Year” shows that multiculturalists are right: there is happiness…

Movie News Cheat Sheet: Flight Gets John Goodman, DreamWorks Gets The BFG And Frank Or Francis Gets Kevin Kline x 2

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

Welcome to October! Even though we’re creeping closer to Halloween, the Movie News Cheat Sheet almost entirely steers clear of spooky territory. Beyond a new trailer for Paranormal Activity 3 and claims that John Travolta is a vampire, the material here is rather tame. We’ve got some exciting casting news to share including Frank or Francis‘ double dose of Kevin Kline as well as Flight‘s growing roster that now boasts names like John Goodman and Melissa Leo in addition to Denzel Washington and potentially Don Cheadle. Warner Bros. is looking to hire as well, but the studio is scouring the market for a director rather than an actor. Christopher Nolan,…

Kung Fu Panda 2

Kung Fu Panda 2 Movie Review

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Title: Kung Fu Panda 2 Director: Jennifer Yuh Starring the voices of: Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Gary Oldman, Seth Rogen, Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman, David Cross, Lucy Liu, Michelle Yeoh, James Hong Though the first installment never fully captured this guy’s attention, “Kung Fu Panda 2″ actually had me yearning for more. When taking that feeling into account, the only true disappointment to note here is that the flick barely runs 90 minutes. Every animated-action engagement felt climatic from the get-go. The landscape this adventure was placed upon will give audiences an eye-gasm. With all that praise being said, there isn’t a ton of laughter that will be flying out…
