Variety is reporting that Kyle Gallner will be a part of the new Freddy Krueger/”A Nightmare On Elm Street” film as Quentin, one of the lead teens in the film, which stars Jackie Earle Haley (”Watchmen”) as the legendary horror icon Freddy Krueger.
Samuel Bayer is directing, and Wesley Strick wrote the script. Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing, and John Rickard is co-producing. Galner is also starring in the upcoming comedy “Cherry,” as well as Fox Atomic’s comedy thriller “Jennifer’s Body” from Diablo Cody.
Gallner recently appeared in “The Haunting In Connecticut” alongside Virginia Madsen and Elias Koteas.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Chi McBride (”Pushing Daisies”) and Jackie Earle Haley (”Little Children”, “Watchmen”) have joined the cast of the “Human Target” pilot episode, along with Mark Valley (”Fringe”) in the adaptation of the DC/Vertigo series about a mysterious PI and bodyguard named Christopher Chance, who assumes the identity of his clients. There is no mention of who McBride or Haley will be playing in the pilot.
A TV pilot adaptation of the comic was filmed in 1990 starring Rick Springfield, but the series only briefly aired in 1992 with 7 episodes and followed a similar setup from the comic. This new pilot, which Fox will produce, [...]

Days before the movie Watchmen is even released, the movie has already set a new record: the highest number of theaters to play an R-rated film ever, with 3,611 screens.
The Zack Snyder-helmed comic book adaptation will play in 1,600 locations Thursday at midnight, which is 656 more than Snyder’s movie 300 had for its midnight shows.
Snyder’s first night earnings for 300 was the second-highest ever for an R-rated movie with $28 million, with Warner Bros’ 2003 hit The Matrix Reloaded in the number one spot, earning over $42.5 million its opening night.

The Matrix Reloaded had a 3,603-theater distribution for its entire run.
