Actor and martial arts star Jackie Chan is reportedly in final negotiations to star as Mr. Miyagi in the remake of The Karate Kid. Chan will play mentor to Will Smith’s son, Jaden, who has been cast in the lead role once played by Ralph Macchio. Actor Will Smith’s son, Jaden, has landed his first major lead role in an upcoming remake of The Karate Kid, according to Variety.com. Jaden, 10, is Smith’s oldest son with wife Jada Pinkett Smith. He had previously acted alongside his father in 2006 film The Pursuit of Happyness and in the television series “All of Us,” which was created by his parents. Variety.com reports today that “I Am Legend” will have an official release around Asia later in the month, and though it has already been green lit in Hong Kong, it has been banned everywhere else in China. This ban is not just on the “I Am Legend” release, but will keep most American films from releasing in China to protect their local film market for the next three months.
