Director Sam Mendes is in negotiations to direct the next “James Bond” film, the 23rd installment of the famous action/espionage franchise. Director Sam Mendes is perhaps best know for his work on “American Beauty” and “Road to Perdition”. Production is being eyed for a June start, with a tentative 2011 release. Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are writing the script with Peter Morgan (“Frost/Nixon”). Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are producing. Peter Morgan (“Frost/Nixon”) has been announced as joining the writing team of the next James Bond film, alongside James Bond veterans Robert Wade and Neal Purvis. Morgan wrote both the the play and screen versions of “Frost/Nixon,” as well as the award-winning films “The Last King of Scotland” and “The Queen.” He is also writing “The Special Relationship” for HBO and “Hereafter” for DreamWorks.
