Title: Man on a Ledge Director: Asger Leth Starring: Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Jamie Bell, Genesis Rodriguez, Anthony Mackie, Edward Burns, Ed Harris, Titus Welliver It’s a decent idea; Man on a Ledge. Now what can we do with this? Best guess is that this discussion went on all the way through shooting, because after taking in the 102 minutes, the only thing creative and truly engaging is in fact, the man on the ledge. Sam Worthington makes the most of his predominantly statuesque role. The guy is standing on a twenty-to-thirty story ledge of a plush hotel in New York City. A crowd (spectators and first-response teams) form around…

The holidays are officially upon us and that means a slew of new movies are on the way, however, it’s not very often that we get two movies from the same director. Not only does Steven Spielberg have War Horse due out in theaters for Christmas, but The Adventures of Tintin, too. Based on three of Hergé’s iconic comic books, The Adventures of Tintin follows the young journalist and his loyal dog Snowy. When Tintin buys a model of an old ship called the Unicorn, he attracts some unwanted attention. After Tintin refuses to sell his ship to a pair of overeager buyers, he discovers the Unicorn happens to be…

Title: The Adventures of Tintin Director: Steven Spielberg Starring: Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Toby Jones, Cary Elwes If it was all about looks, “The Adventures of Tintin” could contend for best picture of the year. The motion-capture animation is exquisite. From the epic-level action sequences, to the inquisitive chatter moments, the eyes will be treated to continuous pleasure in this 107 minute feature directed by Steven Spielberg. Having Spielberg’s talents is usually enough, but audiences will also get a sizable helping of Peter Jackson’s Weta Digital CG, along with charismatic cinematography by Janusz Kaminisky. Oh, and the music score by the great John Williams…

Channing Tatum hosted Constellation’s online screening of “The Eagle,” a film by Kevin Macdonald starring, aside from Tatum, Jamie Bell and Donald Sutherland. Tatum said the toughest challenge about portraying his character, Marcus Aquila, was making sure that he accurately portrayed the time period. “The toughest thing about portraying Marcus was to trying to project yourself back into that time and hope you’re always being somewhat accurate and honest,” he said. “So much time separates now from then so it’s challenging to try to make it as real as you can. especially with the language barrier.” “The Eagle” is set in Roman-controlled Britain, where Marcus Aquila works to honor the…

CinemaBlend has the official poster for “The Adventures of Tintin,” starring Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Daniel Craig, Nick Frost, Simon Pegg, Toby Jones, Mackenzie Crook, Daniel Mays and Gad Elmaleh. The poster looks conventional, and I do have to agree with the site with CinemaBlend’s Katey Rich when she writes that the poster suffers from “Floating Head Syndrome”. I know what the poster was going for–those vintage-type collage posters–but something’s a little off. Maybe there’s too much fade-away around the neck areas of the main characters. I also have to agree that the teaser poster produced so much more of a punch than this official poster. However, We do get…

The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn has been a long time coming for Steven Spielberg. The director first snatched up the rights when the original comic book artist, Georges “Hergé” Remi, passed away back in 1983. Spielberg had to re-option the rights in 2002, hoped to film in late 2008 for a 2010 release, but clearly that didn’t go as planned. It took a little longer than expected, but things finally came together making Tintin Spielberg’s very first digitally shot production courtesy of performance capture technology. The film’s roster includes Jamie Bell as Tintin, Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Thomson and Thompson…

Title: Jane Eyre Directed by: Cary Fukunaga Starring: Mia Wasikowska, Michael Fassbender and Jamie Bell Considered ahead of its time when it was first released in London in 1847, “Jane Eyre” has become a classic novel for its social criticism of society, class order and gender disparity. While many movie directors have difficulty translating morality lessons of past generations to the big screen in a way that modern audiences can still relate to them, Cary Joji Fukunaga easily made the transition with his adaptation of ‘Jane Eyre.’ With the help of actors who effortlessly connected to their roles emotionally, Fukunaga was able to capture his characters’ desire to break free…

Title: The Eagle Directed By: Kevin Macdonald Starring: Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell, Mark Strong, Donald Sutherland, Denis O’Hare, Jon Campling, Tahar Rahim Who better to star in a swords and sandals movie than Channing Tatum? He’s basically built for the role. However, just because he looks good in Roman soldier garb doesn’t mean he can act like one. In fact, after The Eagle, it’s impossible not to recognize the fact that Tatum might not be able to act at all. Then again, all the blame can’t fall on this film’s star. Not only is director Kevin Macdonald to blame for the incredible amount of missed opportunities, but so is writer…

While interviewing actor Jamie Bell on his upcoming film “The Eagle”, ScreenCrave was able to get more information on his other upcoming film, “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn”. Bell, a self-professed “Tintinologist”, feels that it won’t be so hard for American movie-goers who might not be familiar with the character to get excited about the movie. “I think anyone who understands and appreciates Indiana Jones, understands Tintin and they don’t even know what it is yet. I feel like it’s not going to be difficult,” said Bell. He also said that since the characters are all falliable and Tintin’s ambitious personality is easily accessible, the American audience…
